Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014,currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context. 

DRC is currently looking for a Finance Assіstant (Accountant Assіstant),  for its activities in Dnipro.

About the job

Under the management Finance Team Leader, the Finance Assistant (Accountant) is responsible for providing overall finance and daily administrative functioning of the DRC Southeast Area and the implementation of DRC program activities in the area of responsibility.

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Provide day-to-day transactions, day-to-day bookkeeping according to the national legal requirements of Ukraine, methodological principles of accounting for NGO and as per corporate policy and donor`s rules: fixed assets, materials, funds, settlements and other assets, equity and liabilities, income and expenditures, accruals.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivables.
  • Ensure all relevant financial, contractual and personnel documentation is filed in both hard copy and scanned and saved in project digital files.
  • Record transactions in the BAF system.
  • File, prepare scan copies of bank vouchers supporting documents and future preparation of sending documentation to archive.
  • Checking of contracts, acts of performed work/acceptance, invoices provided by suppliers, maintaining primary documentation in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Making sure the organization is updated/following the most updated regulations, as per the changes by the government from time to time.
  • Assistance with external audit requests for any required supporting documentation.
  • Keeping track of the latest changes in Ukrainian Labor Law, Tax, and Accounting legislation.
  • Participation in stock takes of assets, funds, calculations, and liabilities. Write-off of TMC in accordance with accounting norms and standards and in compliance with DRC policies.
  • Provide calculation of business trip daily allowances.
  • Perform other financial tasks assigned by the Finance Team Leader, ASSM.

About you:

To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 2 years experience in Accountancy area.

  Moreover, we also expect the following:

  • Accountancy and finance literacy
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and Excel sills, Bank on-line skills
  • Ukrainian fluency, English is an asset.  Ability to learn and improve level of English
  • Effective communication skills, adaptability, flexibility, non-conflict approach, responsibility, ability to work in a team and learn fast
  • Accuracy in paper work.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National.
