Introduction
The Green Climate Fund is the world’s largest dedicated multilateral climate fund and invests in impactful, innovative, catalytic programs and projects in developing countries across the globe. The GCF has a portfolio of 286 projects across 133 countries, with a total commitment of USD 15.9 billion to date.

Internship Assignment
This internship aims to offer post-graduate students or recent graduates a meaningful learning experience by supplementing their knowledge with real-world interventions. The Intern will support – with concurrent mentoring – the Operations Control Unit in its current assignment. The Operations Control unit is responsible for the design and implementation of the risk-based internal control framework based on COSO. The three main projects it currently leads are:
- PROM (Project Risk and Opportunity Mapping) which aims at harmonizing and improving the Fund’s projects risk assessment.
- RCSA (Risk and Control Self-Assessment) to support process owners in reviewing and assessing inherent risks and designing adequate control systems.
- ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) system implementation. An integrated tool to manage organization, project and process risks.
The Intern will be trained and mentored in risk assessment, process review and internal control. Learning activities include:
- Support the Project Risk and Opportunity Mapping project by ensuring proper coordination of the working group and researching risk management and internal control best practices
- Support the Risk and Control Self-Assessment exercise by coordinating workshops and drafting process documentation (walkthrough minutes, flowcharts, standard operating procedures) highlighting risks and internal controls
- Support the unit monthly report by collecting and analysing data
- Shadow the Operations Control Manager in meetings with project working groups and stakeholders across the organization
- Perform other functions, as may be appropriate under the conditions of the internship.
Requirements and qualifications
- Enrolled and pursuing last year of Master’s or PhD program (or recently graduated) in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Sustainable Development or related fields;
- Good understanding and experience in process, risks and controls as well as operations of international organizations is an added advantage;
- Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access; Experience with Visio is an advantage
- Excellent writing and presentation skills;
- Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French and Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage.
