What we do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
Purpose of the position
As a Collaboration Engineer specializing in Microsoft technologies, you will play a key role in managing all aspects of a SharePoint environment. This includes overseeing design, architecture, availability, reliability, performance, monitoring, and security of the farms or tenant. You will work closely with Product Owners, Business Owners, and Infrastructure Teams to support and deliver collaborative tools that enhance productivity and empower internal teams in their daily work.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Designs and manages the architecture of collaboration platforms, including SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive.
- Ensures high availability, optimal performance, and reliability of collaboration platforms.
- Monitors system health and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Maintains robust security measures across collaboration tools, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
- Provides technical support and training to internal teams, ensuring the effective use of collaboration tools.
- Oversees the architecture, design, and maintenance of collaboration systems.
- Drives innovation and continuous improvement within collaboration technologies to enhance user productivity.
- Develops and implements automation scripts to streamline system management and deployment processes.
- Ensures seamless integration of collaboration platforms with other business systems.
- Maintains thorough documentation of the collaboration platform’s architecture, configurations, and support procedures, ensuring clear communication with Product Owners, Business Owners, and IT teams to align with business objectives.
Relationships
- Internally, interacts with a wide variety of teams (T&I and Business) and people from end-user up to senior-level leaders.
- Externally, interacts with T&I suppliers and service providers and staff of any public or private sector organization as relevant.
- Participates in external events, with professional communities and the Red Cross Movement.
Desired profile and skills
- Communication & Collaboration — Exceptional listener and communicator with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholder groups. Skilled in facilitating group work and adapting communication styles as needed.
- International & Multicultural Experience — Experience working in complex, diverse international environments is highly desirable.
- Language Proficiency — Fluent in English (both written and spoken); proficiency in French is a plus.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills — Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, complemented by excellent communication skills.
Education required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Experience or certification in Agile delivery; SAFe certification is preferred.
- 8+ years of experience as a Technical Consultant, Architect, or in a similar role within SharePoint or Microsoft 365 environments.
Experience required
- Expert in Microsoft SharePoint (on-premises & SharePoint Online) for site architecture, workflows, and permissions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Teams setup, administration, and service integration.
- Experienced with OneDrive for Business and its integration with SharePoint and Teams.
- Skilled in using PowerApps for low-code/no-code app development integrated with SharePoint and Teams.
- Hands-on experience with on-premises SharePoint farms, including server roles, services, and patch management.
- Expert in managing user access, roles, and groups in SharePoint.
- Proficient in disaster recovery, backup, and restore strategies for SharePoint environments.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Security & Compliance Center for DLP, retention policies, and compliance.
- Familiar with Azure Information Protection for securing sensitive documents.
- Proficient in PowerShell for managing SharePoint, Teams, and Office 365.
- Experienced in using JSON, XML, and REST APIs for custom integrations and automation.
- Familiar with hybrid SharePoint environments (on-premises to cloud integrations).
- Experienced with Microsoft 365 Admin Center for platform health monitoring and usage analysis.
