What we do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose
The Learning and Development Officer is part of the Mobilization, Movement, Partnership (MMP) Department’s transversal LnD Team, comprised of two LnD officers, two LnD Managers and a head of unit. The team’s objective is to provide LnD services and support to the four main divisions in the department (communications, movement cooperation, fundraising and environmental scanning). Each team member will hold priority files for a specific division, as well as a couple of transversal files, and is expected to support the team as required.
Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities
- Front and back-office activities in support of learning solutions in the MMP LnD team
- Providing all aspects of digital and organizational, administrative and logistical support for learning activities, ensuring they are set up and running smoothly
- Managing the digital learning experience by supporting participants, trainers and other resource people during synchronous and asynchronous parts of online courses and events
- Managing online communities of expertise and online knowledge platforms, supporting the onboarding of colleagues and facilitating certain training sessions virtually and in-person as needed
Professional experience / Certifications / Education required
- 5+ years of professional experience in an administrative or administrative assistant role
- Min 2 years’ ICRC field experience and/or previous training experience
- University, or professional certification,, or equivalent work experience
- Fluent command of English and French; Spanish and/or Arabic an asset
- Excellent computer competency in managing and organizing administrative functions and a variety of web-based applications (word, excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Mural, online survey tools)
- Good knowledge of information systems, event organization, financeand administration.
- Ease with technology and working knowledge of online learning applications, such as BlendedX, Cross Knowledge).
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent team collaboration and communication skills and ability to work in a virtual team
- Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to work independently, be proactive, and take initiative
- Seeks innovative approaches to resolve problems and improve service delivery
