* This position is financed by a third-party, external to the Organization with funding provided by the donor. Although there is a commitment from the donor, the appointment may be terminated prior to 31 December 2026 should the external funding for this position no longer be available. This position also carries, in principle, no expectation of renewal. Any potential subsequent extension will be subject to the terms of the Organization’s Staff Manual, to satisfactory performance and to availability of funds.
Tests/interviews in connection to this selection procedure will take place approximately 4 weeks after the deadline for applications. Applicants are kindly requested to plan their availability during this period accordingly, in case they are short-listed.
Selected candidates will be expected to report for duty approximately two to three months after receiving an offer of employment at the latest.
This selection exercise may be used to generate a reserve list of suitable candidates that may be used to address Organization's similar staffing needs in the future.
INTRODUCTION OF POST
Under the supervision and guidance of the Chemical and Explosives Terrorism Prevention Unit Coordinator, the post holder assumes the responsibility for projects on prevention, preparedness, response and investigative support activities that will improve the chemical and explosives-related capabilities and cooperation amongst member countries by ensuring compliance with INTERPOL strategic priorities.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Organize work related to specific programmes/projects by preparing and implementing activities in specific areas depending on the needs of Member Countries. Design, prepare and deliver specialized training courses, curricula and presentations, focusing on chemical and explosives terrorism prevention, response and investigation requiring expertise in instructional design, adult learning, and chemical and explosives terrorism prevention. You will be required to complete and deliver summary reports related to those initiatives by describing deliverables, outcomes, and recommendations.
- Prepare briefing documents and summary reports related to projects on chemical and explosives terrorism prevention, response and investigation and develop high-quality written communications, including technical reports, that clearly and accurately convey complex technical information to diverse audiences. Deliver technical oral presentations that provide detailed technical analysis and insights on specialized topics, such as threat assessment and risk mitigation. Analyze and link relevant information to identify trends and inform strategic initiatives. Organize and participate in meetings and conferences, including preparing draft agendas, circular letters, and invitations to specialist speakers, and facilitate discussions and presentations.
- Conduct ongoing research and analysis to stay current on new and emerging threats related to chemical and explosives terrorism and utilize this knowledge to provide expertise to initiatives such as the Global Congress on Chemical Security and Emerging Threats, informing the development of effective content. Prepare written communications and make oral presentations as appropriate, drafting Mission Reports, After Action Reports and any additional documents as necessary or as directed by the hierarchy.
- Organize and coordinate chemical and explosives-related operations with member countries, including planning, executing, and evaluating operations, to enhance international cooperation and improve the global response to chemical and explosives terrorism threats.
- Liaise closely with experts in chemical and explosives terrorism prevention, response and investigation from member countries and external organizations, to facilitate information sharing and exchange on best practices and lessons learned, and to identify areas of cooperation and collaboration.
- Perform duties as required by the hierarchy.
REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
• Minimum of three to four years of education at University, or other specialized higher education establishment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Three (3) years experience required, (5 years an additional asset) in CBRNE prevention, preparedness, response or investigations.
- Ten years of law enforcement experience, if the post holder does not have the required level of education.
- Proven experience in investigating major crime.
- Proven experience in teaching CBRNE related activities or programmes
- Demonstrated experience in the implementation of targeted law enforcement CBRNE activities.
- Experience of working in the international environment will be a strong asset.
LANGUAGES
- Excellent command of English is required (both oral and written)
- Proficiency in a second official language of the Organization is desirable.
ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Sound operational law enforcement knowledge related to CBRNE modalities in regard to prevention, response and investigation;
- Strong technical knowledge in the area of CBRNE training and operational procedures;
- Proven experience in organizing major events or training activities related to CBRNE field;
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to deliver technical briefings;
- Ability to work collaboratively with international partners, stakeholders, and experts;
- Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups;

Remuneration for appointment on contract: Salary scales of all duty stations of INTERPOL can be found at https://www.interpol.int/What-you-can-do/Careers/Vacancies. The starting point is step 1 and one additional step will be granted for every 3 years of fully relevant experience. The salary scales of INTERPOL’s officials are adjusted at least once per year (more under exceptional circumstances) on the basis of the methodology used for the calculation of the Purchase Power Parity (PPP).

The incumbent may occasionally be required to work occasional overtime based upon workload and to go on missions.
