Our Organisation

War Child, an international humanitarian organization and the specialist charity for children affected by war across 14 conflict-affected countries, established local partnerships in Moldova, Romania, Hungary, and Ukraine in 2022 to address the challenges faced by children and caregivers affected by the full-scale war in Ukraine. As of 2024, War Child’s operations shifted entirely to Ukraine with the focus on child protection (CP) and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in implementing evidence-based interventions for the well-being of children and caregivers.

Your Challenge

 

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the quality implementation, monitoring and delivery of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency-funded (RVO) project in Ukraine. Under the management of the Country Representative, this role involves managing project consortium partners, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and fostering strong stakeholder relationships. You will ensure project’s implementation in Ukraine in line with program priorities and donor expectations. This role will involve day-to-day problem solving and working with project implementing partners to lead on project’s compliance, monthly and quarterly budget and reporting processes, while also ensuring effective internal communication between the Ukraine Response team and project’s implementing partners.

Your Responsibilities

·       Act in accordance with War Child’s core values of creativity, inspiration, impact and integrity, while ensuring these are integrated into all project activities.

·       Lead the implementation of the RVO project in Ukraine, ensuring strict adherence to donor requirements and alignment with the organization's objectives.

·       Ensure appropriate due diligence and risk management of the project, including risk management, financial management, safeguarding and duty of care.

·       Conduct project start-up workshops to clarify roles and responsibilities and establish effective communication channels.

·       Oversee project monitoring activities, making necessary adjustments to ensure project success.

·       Prepare and submit donor reports in accordance with agreed schedules.

·       Document and share lessons learned to inform future program design and implementation strategies.

·       Oversee operational planning (budgets and activity planning). 

·       Develop and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders, representing War Child in relevant meetings and coordination platforms.

·       Ensure the implementation of and compliance with the grant management policy and applicable donor rules and regulations

·       With guidance and support from relevant Technical Advisor(s), ensure that program quality standards are being met by all implementing partners.

·       Provide capacity building and technical assistance to project’s implementing partners.

·       Liaise and provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders on all project-related correspondence and reporting.

Your Profile

·       Demonstrable experience in managing people and project implementation in an international/humanitarian context.

·       Skills and experience in project/program planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation.

·       Experience in grant management and donor reporting  / accountability / compliance.

·       Experience in capacity building of local partners.

·       Ability to facilitate learning and foster teamwork.

·       Demonstrated experience with developing and/or implementing projects/research in at least two of the following areas: Child Protection, Psychosocial Support, Education, Cash.

·       Excellent organisational and coordination skills with the ability to build and sustain good working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.

·       Ability to produce timely and high-quality project reports.

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Experience in financial management including sound budgeting skills.

·       Cultural sensitivity, tact and diplomacy.

·       Proficiency in English is essential.

Our offer

·       Local contract with salary and secondary labour conditions based on the in-country salary scale, local T&C's will apply.

·       A fixed term contract of 12 months with possible extension.

·       The role is based on full-time working hours (40 hours per week).

·       The position will be Ukraine-based with expected travel to the project’s sites in Ukraine, subject to security considerations.
