The Public Health Department is made up of a group of generalist Health Advisors and medical and public health specialists so as to provide expert support in a range of fields including, apart from SRH/SGBV, infectious diseases, mental health, nutrition, paediatrics, and vaccination as well as epidemiology, health promotion, laboratory, pharmaceutical quality/medical supply, and water/sanitation.
With immediate effect our Public Health Department is looking for a
Sexual and Reproductive Health Specialist (100%)
(Preferred Candidate Located in a country with an MSF OCA Ops Desk Presence- Kenya, Germany, Netherlands, UK)
POSITION WITHIN THE ORGANISATION
The Sexual Reproductive Health Specialist reports to the Coordinator of Medical Specialists for the Mother-Child Health group, Public Health Department. They workin close collaboration with other colleagues supporting sexual and reproductive health along with other intersecting specialisations (sexual violence, paediatrics, quality of care, nursing etc)
MAIN OBJECTIVE
The overall aim of this post is to provide technical and strategical support to sexual and reproductive health in MSF-OCA projects.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide SRH specialist support to MSF-OCA in order to successfully implement the strategic plan and the MSF SRH policy and strategy. This will include:

Providequalityandtimelytechnical support to field staffconcerning SRH clinicalquestions

Support field teams in theuseand analysis of routine data; oversightand analysis of SRH activitiesandoutputs on key indicators sothatquality of care canbeevaluatedandimprovementplanscanbedevelopedwhereneeded

Promote culture of patientsafety; support field teams withquality review processincluding root causes analysis and follow-up of incident reports.

Contributetothe development and promotion of middleand long term strategicvisionand plan forsexualandreproductive health withinthe PHD and MSF-OCA alongwiththe practical implementation means andplans

Advocate on SRH policyandquality issues to MSF-OCA operations andother relevant staff

Monitor developments in the field of SRH andassessrelevancefor MSF-OCA field projects

Developfurthernetworkstoenhance MSF-OCA expertise and support for field implementation

Collaboratewith fellow PHD specialistsandcolleagues of support departments on cross-cutting issues

Giveguidancetoandcollaboratewith SRH-implementer on implementationstrategiesandpriorities.

Continuously review progressagainst the MSF-OCA strategic plan and report on developments in control cycle periods; identify constraints and implementation challenges and recommend measures to overcome them

Facilitate implementation of SRH components into MSF-OCA projects through development and updating of appropriate tools (e.g. guidelines, protocols/procedures, training materials, minimum equipment/drugs lists, etc.)

Deliver topical module at MSF-OCA generalist courses, andorganize and facilitatethe various SRH trainings offered.

Support SRH operational research in the portfolios

Support the Human Resources Department in the recruitment, matching and development of relevant internationalstaff (i.e., SRH pool)
SUPPORT TO MISSIONS

Conduct field visitstomissionsto support quality SRH including basic andemergencyobstetric care.

Provide field based training and coaching in missions.

Brief/debrief midwivesandotherreproductive health staff in missionsensuring opportunity fortopicalpreparation on SRH carecomponents prior todepartureand feedback at end of mission

Assist withimplementation of SRH services, identifyconstraintsandimplementationchallengesandrecommendmeasurestoovercomethem
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education, qualification, and experience
-
Qualified reproductive health specialist (midwife or SRH specialised MD); full and current registration/license with relevant national professional body
-
Minimum 3 years independent clinical experience in hospital and/or community care/midwifery, including the recent 2-year period (i.e., clinically current)

At least two missions providing SRHcare in MSF (or a similar organisation)
-
Commitment and passion for the goals of MSF
-
Coordination and/or project management experience an asset
Capacities and skills
-
Excellent oral and written communication skills; Fluency in English is required, French or Arabic are strongly preferred
-
Is sensitive towards diverse cultural and professional backgrounds
-
Enthusiastic, motivated and independent; able to work with minimal supervision
-
Able to work under time pressure on various projects and deadlines at any given time
-
Is innovative, able to lead and coach teams, and produce timely outputs
Must be able to visit and support projects at short notice, and willing to spend up to 30% of time in the field
We offer
When based in The Netherlands:
• An employment contract for one year
• A gross monthly salary between €4,665 and €6,422 a month depending on relevant work experience, based on a fulltime appointment;
