ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
This position is based in Dodoma and reports to the Head of the TEC division.
At this level job holders are expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to queries with only general guidance. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen problems on a daily basis. Job holders are expected to manage resources and coach and coordinate a team of support staff.
JOB PURPOSE:
To support the delivery of efficient and effective IT and Telecommunications (TC) services, and development of IT Solutions that enable staff to deliver food assistance to beneficiaries, in line with WFP’s strategy.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):
Under the overall guidance and technical supervision of the Head of the TEC division, the IT Operations Associate will be responsible for the following:
Provide support to users, log and analyze all requests for support in accordance with standard processes, to support staff to deliver their services.
Provide training and advice to end users of IT services, understand and resolve issues and ensure IT policies, procedures, systems and tools are correctly applied to assist WFP staff in conducting their work.
Draft standard material such as end-user and technical documentation to ensure staff have access to required information about IT services and products.
Monitor technology reliability, identify user needs, analyze data and produce accurate reports in order to recommend IT solutions to support informative decision-making.
Carry out system and hardware maintenance tasks, such as running specialized network monitoring and system protection, to ensure technology is running effectively.
Coordinate installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems and equipment, to ensure optimal services in compliance with standard operations procedures.
Implement improvements to methods and processes in order to support the continuous improvement of IT services provided.
Manage the implementation of new standard applications in order to provide WFP staff with the tools they need to perform effectively.
Work with IT service delivery team to understand needs and support the development of integrated IT support services.
Contribute to emergency preparedness and response by providing IT and telecommunications services.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: Secondary school and post-secondary school certificate. Preferably a University Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant field
Experience: Has a minimum Five (5) years professional experience of progressive responsibility in IT Operations and analysing service management.
Knowledge and Skills: Has effectively managed IT Networks, Cloud Infrastructure and Cybersecurity.
Language: Fluency in English Language and Swahili.
