The Role
At Last Mile Health (LMH), we are all stewards of our reputation and our resources. If so, you are our next Financial Controller.
The Financial Controller will oversee the financial operations and ensure the integrity of financial reporting for Last Mile Health. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and is critical in managing the organization’s financial health, implementing robust financial processes, and supporting strategic financial planning. The Financial Controller will manage the annual consolidated audit process and, alongside other Finance Directors, provide support and oversight of Country-specific and donor-required audits. They will work closely with non-finance staff, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can collaborate and support program operations most effectively
This role is open to candidates based in the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. This position is only open to candidates who do not require any paid sponsorship or unsponsored work authorization in the US. This role is fully remote in the US.
What you’ll do
Global Financial Management and Reporting
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate US GAAP standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the entire organization.
- Review and approve US-based financial transactions.
- Maintain internal control and safeguards for revenue, expenditures, and statutory compliance.
- Manage all external audits.
- Develop organization-wide financial policies and procedures to guide country finance teams.
- Manage organizational cash flow forecasting.
- Oversee the usage and maintenance of financial systems and software.
- Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Finance and Accounting Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor the finance team, help to clarify roles and responsibilities, and develop and implement training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
- Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization to promote understanding of financial policies and processes.
- Promote collaboration and effective communication within the finance team and across the organization.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and donor compliance
- Significant experience coordinating external audit activities
- Keen analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated years of experience with financial software and ERP systems
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board, or other outside partners
- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
You’ll Impress Us If
- You have a CPA or Master’s degree in Accounting
- You have progressive years of experience in financial management, preferably in the NGO or nonprofit sector.

The Band for this position: SLB-5
For the United States, the range is USD $101,992- $118,531 dependent upon experience doing an equivalent role. Please note that this compensation is subject to statutory taxes.
