CTG is looking for a qualified Local Area Network (LAN) Technician for our operations. This role is being advertised for talent pool building purposes, once the project goes live, only those candidates that are shortlisted will be contacted.
Role objectivesProven experience in Cisco L2 & L3 LAN switching, ACLs, QoS, network segmentation.
Installation & configuration of catalyst wireless LAN controllers, mobility express & wireless access points.
Hands on experience in routing protocols such as EIGRP.
Administration of Cisco ISE, TACACS configuration.
Administration of VMware infrastructure, storage Arrays & SAN switches.
Ability to manage web content gateway & filtering applications / appliances.
Working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS & DHCP.
Knowledge of HP DL-360 / 380 servers.
Configure, install & maintain CCTV systems including IP security cameras & network video recorders.
Assist for the installation of network cabling, indoor / outdoor wireless access points & network cabinets.
Performs preventative maintenance to team sites, fault diagnosis & repair.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor / Chief of the Unit.
This role reports to the line manager.
Key competenciesDiploma in telecommunication / computer science studies from a technical school, or an equivalent of education, certification & experience in telecommunication / IT field.
At least 6 years of relevant work experience in the planning & installation of complex information systems, equipment & networks, including at least 3 years of experience at an international level.
Experience providing services in the field of information systems or related area to or in a field operation of the UN common system or comparable international organization is desirable.
Experience in the field of information systems or related area in a conflict or post conflict setting is required.
Must have excellent oral & written communication skills.
Must possess excellent problem solving and logical thinking skills.
Skill in working in collaborative team based environments.
Must meet deadlines & provide quick turnaround on projects when needed.
Relevant experience in systems & network administration is mandatory.
Possession of a valid driving license.
Relevant field experience is desired.
Knowledge about network switches, computers, printers & other hardware devices connected to a network in a campus or a building is desired.
Fluency in written & spoken English is required.
Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
Willingness to work with minimum supervision.
This role has no team management responsibility.
