Purpose
The Household Staff Supervisor ensures the cleanliness of ICRC premises by providing housekeeping services and supervising a team of housekeepers and other domestic staff and office cleaners.
Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities
- Independently supervises the office management team (housekeepers, technical staff, gardeners and cooks).
- Ensures the premises offer the ICRC standard level of comfort and cleanliness.
- Ensures the premises, the standard furniture and items are always in good conditions and maintained/replaced on a timely manner whenever needed.
- Orders, purchases the premises supplies (cleaning product, coffee break items, towels, sheets etc) and follow up their stock.
- Deals with external service providers and daily workers where relevant and coordinates and supervises their work.
- Keep a comprehensive and up to date premises file.
- Implement the sustainability measures in coordination with the Delegation green team.

People management responsibilities
- Understands and supervises the Performance Management & Development (PMD) activities for employees under their supervision.
- Makes sure that deadlines for the PMD cycle are met.
- Engages in ongoing and continuous feedback and support, particularly for employees under their supervision, but also other staff members.
- Organizes regular meetings within their team to ensure optimal coordination of the work and proper flow of information.
- Ensures that job descriptions for employees under their supervision are up to date; seeks feedback and support from HR Department if needed.
- Plans and coordinates the annual leave of the employees under their supervision ensuring continuity of the operations throughout the year and making sure that there are no outstanding holiday balances at the end of the year.
- Coordinates and supports the employees under their supervision in their personal development, by coaching and advising them on internal and external training and development possibilities.
Scope & Impact
- Geographic remit: limited to the assigned premises.
- Is authorized to carry out purchases within the limits of ICRC rules.
- Typically, manages a team of ten or more household-services staff.
Relationships
- Internally, interacts with other ICRC employees and/or premises users.
- Has no external relationships.
Certifications / Education required
- Higher school education.
- Good knowledge of written and spoken English and local languages.
- Proficiency in Computer, knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Professional Experience required
- Over two years’ experience in the general upkeep of properties.
- Knowledge of basic hygiene principles.
