Duty Station : Yangon with 80 % travel to all field sites including NSS, Kachin and Rakhine

Report to : Country Office Protection Manager

Direct Report : NA - technical supervision of staff doing prevention and/or CBP work

Overall purpose of the role:

The Protection Specialist – Response provides technical supervision and guidance to DRC Myanmar field teams and partner protection programs, with a focus on Protection response activities under General protection, Gender Based Violence Response and Child Protection.

Responsibilities:

The Protection Specialist (Response):

  • Provide remote and in-person supervision, technical support and guidance to field teams and partners. implementing case management under GP, GBV, and CP, MHPSS, C4P+, referrals and other response activities ensuring adherence to international standards and DRC’s internal protocols including weekly and bi-weekly case review with field teams.
  • Ensure all activity trackers are up to date by working closely with AO protection teams.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance mechanisms, such as case audits, case reviews, and assessments, to ensure case management practices are safe, effective, and continuously improved.
  • Monitors documentation to ensure high quality and timely recording on DRC’s Activityinfo information management system.
  • Conducts regular field visits to ensure that all response activities including case management and C4P+ activities are of a high quality.
  • Review inputs on GBVIMS and CPIMS monthly and provides feedback to AO PM and CO PM
  • Provides capacity building for protection staff working on C4P+ and case management, through training, mentoring and shadow visits.
  • Identify training needs and provide tailored support to address any knowledge or skill gaps within the team.
  • Design and lead partner capacity building plans in consultation with APM and CO PM.
  • Develops monitoring tools for assessing the quality of case management and C4P+ activities, in collaboration with the Protection and MEAL Managers.
  • Contribute to concept notes and proposals.
  • Contributes to donor and management reports.
  • Updates SOPs and manuals relating to response activities including case management and C4P+ as required.
  • Develops and delivers training to DRC field teams and partners on relevant protection topics.
  • Provides technical oversight to partners undertaking case management or cash assistance (as required).
  • In collaboration with the Protection Information Management (PIM) Specialist, set up and maintain Activity Info for case management, C4P+, MHPSS, ensuring data collection aligns with program objectives and confidentiality standards.
  • Train field staff in using ActivityInfo for accurate, timely data entry, and support continuous improvement of data quality and reporting.
  • Participates in relevant coordination meetings, as agreed with the Protection Manager.
  • Undertakes other tasks, as requested by the Protection Manager.

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Degree in Social Work or another relevant social science; Masters would be an advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working for an INGO in the protection sector, including extensive case management experience. 
  • Experience working as a case management supervisor.
  • Proven experience working in at least two protection sub-sectors, such as Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Child Protection (CP), and General Protection (GP).
  • Experience providing training on protection topics including provision of remote technical support
  • Experience working with national partners, local/government authorities, and UN organizations
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Full professional proficiency in English and a Myanmar language

Conditions

Contract: DRC will offer the successful applicant a DRC’s Regular contract included 3-month probation. Renewable depends on both funding and performance. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with DRC’s Terms of Employment. The position is placed in Employment Band G-non management.
