Communication and Knowledge Management Assistant
The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Development (MoPD), is implementing the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Project to enhance Ethiopia’s capacity to access and manage climate finance through the GCF. The project aims to strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of the Ethiopian government to plan, implement, and monitor climate change projects that align with Ethiopia’s national climate strategies and development goals.
As part of the GCF Readiness Project, there is a need to improve knowledge management and communication strategies for the project’s success, effective stakeholder engagement, and the dissemination of information related to climate financing, policy development, and best practices.

Position Summary
The Knowledge Management Assistant, reporting to GCF Readiness and NAP Lead, who will be stationed at the Ministry of Planning and Development (MoPD) will support the Climate Unit at MoPD in establishing and maintaining a robust knowledge management (KM) system for the Climate Unit particular and the National Designated Authority (NDA) in general. This will include facilitating the collection, organization, and dissemination of knowledge related to climate finance, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and other relevant areas of the Ministry’s climate initiatives. The assistant will also help in fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and collaboration both within the Ministry and across the relevant stakeholders.
Purpose
- To improve knowledge management and dissemination within the Ministry and among relevant stakeholders.
- To facilitate learning and knowledge sharing on climate finance and project implementation.
- To ensure that the Ministry has a centralized repository of information and resources for future reference and decision-making.
Engagement
- Engage with GGGI project teams, GGGI Ethiopia Communications Unit and the Communications & Knowledge Sharing Unit in Africa Regional Office and HQ to understand GGGI’s guideline and practices.
- Work with government agencies, development partners, and local stakeholders to effectively reach the implementation agreements and communication products that are required.
- Assist in organizing capacity-building sessions and training workshops for Ministry staff and other stakeholders on knowledge management tools and best practices.
Delivery
- Support on the different design-production and audiovisual requirements asked for staff team, aligning with the GGGI Communications and Knowledge.
- Support in the design of GGGI official products for external dissemination such as project factsheets, reference sheets and brochures.
- Support the development and distribution of knowledge products such as reports, briefings, newsletters, success stories, case studies, and policy papers related to the GCF Readiness Project and climate change activities.
- Document key meetings, stakeholder engagements, and activities related to the GCF Readiness Project.
- Organize and categorize documents, reports, and materials related to the GCF Readiness Project for easy access and retrieval.
- Implement a document and information management protocol that ensures consistency, standardization, and security in data storage.
- Ensure that key findings, lessons learned, and best practices from GCF-funded projects are effectively captured and shared with stakeholders.
- Regular updates to the Ministry’s website or other platforms with relevant knowledge-sharing content.
- Assist in creating and maintaining content for the Ministry’s websites, internal communication channels, and social media platforms.
- Assist in the coverage of live and online events by leading the logistics, taking photographs, recording interviews, or posting content on our social media channels.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a centralized knowledge management system that stores relevant climate finance and project information, documentation, reports, and learning materials.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Communication, Journalism, Audiovisual Communication, Graphic design, Marketing, or related fields.
- At least 1~2 years of professional experience in communications, or data management,
- Experience working with international organizations or development partners, especially on climate finance or environmental projects.
- Familiarity with climate change policies, the Green Climate Fund, and climate finance mechanisms would be an asset.
- Substantial proficiency in graphic design, editorial design, and video editing programs. Adobe Creative Cloud preferred (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign, Adobe Audition, Lightroom, After Effects), but also Canva Pro, CapCut, or related Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in a second language relevant to GGGI Ethiopia is a plus.

- High level of attention to detail, accuracy, quality control and methodical abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of knowledge management systems, digital tools, and platforms for data storage and sharing (e.g., SharePoint, Google Drive, or similar).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Ability to prepare written reports, statistics and business correspondence both in English. Familiarity with climate change and development terminology and frameworks would be an advantage.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The Program Officer is a National position at an X4 grade level on the GGGI’s Ethiopia national salary scale. The salary range for the position starts at USD 9,393 per annum and is determined based on the candidate's experience, academic background, and internal equity. GGGI provides 15% of the base salary towards a retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.GGGI is committed to providing a work environment that is sufficiently flexible to accommodate diverse life-cycle challenges and assist Staff members to achieve a better balance between work and personal/family commitments, thus ensuring high performance, long-term productivity, and well-being of Staff members.
