CIMMYT has opened a call for applications for Capacity Development positions related positions such as:

  • Capacity development Manager
  • Capacity Development Specialist

The location of the related positions will be Texcoco, Mexico for the Capacity Development Manager, and New Delhi for the Capacity Development Specialist.

General activities for Capacity Development Manager.

  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of Knowledge-Sharing and Capacity Development solutions for the CIMMYT Academy.
  • Collaborate with Research Programs and Regional Offices to align Academy programs with Knowledge-Sharing and Capacity Development opportunities.
  • Design and develop training curricula, manuals, and learning materials to support research and educational initiatives.
  • Oversee partner training plans and manage the Student Training Program globally, including onboarding and offboarding.
  • Ensure Academy content meets quality standards and supports long-term knowledge-sharing goals.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of capacity development activities using key metrics.
  • Manage partnerships with universities, develop joint learning programs, and enhance student engagement with the Academy.
  • Establish and implement the Academy’s communication and marketing strategy across various platforms.
  • Monitor budgets and generate funding to support Academy initiatives.

General activities for Capacity Development Specialist.

  • Provide expert guidance in developing capacity development content, including course materials, videos, learning activities, and assessments tailored to CIMMYT’s research programs.
  • Co-design and implement capacity development solutions with research programs and technical partners.
  • Manage the production, editing, and instructional design of e-learning and in-person courses, including organizational assessments and strategy development.
  • Offer strategic guidance on training activities, collect data, and prepare reports on training events.
  • Collaborate with HR to create content and e-learning courses for induction programs.
  • Develop engaging learning activities to enhance retention and knowledge transfer.
  • Act as a super user for the LMS project, supporting users and contributing to its development.
  • Document and systematize capacity development processes and provide project support as needed.
  • Support student management, communications, and CIMMYT Academy events.
  • Maintain and update all CIMMYT Academy procedures

Submit your application if you have these minimum qualifications, skills, and attitudes:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Agriculture, Capacity Development, Administration, International Relations or a similar field
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in the field of education, capacity development, knowledge-sharing, skills development, agriculture extension or in a similar field.
  • Excellent knowledge of capacity development and knowledge-sharing theory and the application of the methodology, good understanding of capacity assessment methodologies; excellent ability to identify significant capacity development opportunities
  • Experience in the organization of formal and informal training programs for a range of stakeholders, including farmers, extension workers from government, NGOs, and private sector, etc. in agricultural disciplines.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills are required.
  • Fluent and effective communication skills in English.
  • Intermediate level of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Experience with MS Dynamics is desirable and with Learning Management Systems.

For the capacity development Specialist:

  • Ph.D. / master’s degree in Agronomy / Agriculture/ Agriculture Education or related fields with a minimum 3-year experience in agriculture education/ training/ e-learning/ agriculture extension domains etc.
  • Has worked in training content development, training program preparation, training implementation or as a resource person in the agriculture domain.
  • Basic knowledge of protocols and administrative and/or operational procedures of the research support function.
  • Has strong technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced level in MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Instructional design experience will represent an advantage.
  • Advanced level of English language (English test will be administered; candidate must score a minimum of C1 as per CEFR).
