Position Objective
The Africa Regional Centre (ARC), under the Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, is responsible for coordinating the work program, leading the origination (including initial project preparation) and supervision of the implementation of NDB operations in African region, and supporting the Public Sector and the Private Sector in the preparation of such operations.
The Director General, ARC, is responsible for broad corporate leadership translating the Bank’s mission into effective, respected programs in African region including: (i) Project Identification and pipeline development; (ii) Project preparation; (iii) Project implementation and monitoring and; (iv) Regional portfolio management. Combining corporate leadership and program vision, a capacity for foresight and action distinguishes the organization and positions it to influence the global debate and shape its agenda in sustainable development.
The Director General, ARC will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
This position is open to applicants from all NDB member countries.
Purpose
● Strategize the alignment of mission with corporate programming to achieve effective design and resource requirements.
● Break new ground in articulation of programming approaches that secure the reputation and resource base of the Bank.
● Lead institutional development to ensure alignment and achievement of core mission goals.
● Build new programming approaches which sustain relevance of the Bank.
Engagement
● Advises the Bank on strategies to secure resources ensuring capacity to design and deliver program.
● Establish standards for team leadership, motivating staff and effective resource management.
● Champion NDB’s mission and the Bank’s capacity with Governments, other development stakeholders and business partners in the region securing the resources and program support for success.
● Expand Bank’s reach into new program areas to sustain relevance and demonstrate capacity and value.
Delivery
● Envision new approaches to program and organizational design promoting improved effectiveness.
● Create and implement program management standards which showcase the Bank as an effective/reliable partner.
● Plan corporate standards that establish consistent program quality.
● Expand both depth and reach of program deliverables to increase value to both client and stakeholders.

Requirements
● Master’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
● Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, culminating in a leadership role and position of influence, in Government, multilateral development banks or equivalent or regulated private sector financial institution.
● Fluency in English essential to communicate in writing and speaking.
