What we do

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose of the position

 

The Digitalization Lead plays a key role in the ICRC’s digital transformation program, bridging business units and T&I teams to optimize end-to-end processes and integrate unified information systems. Collaborating with various functions like Finance, Logistics, and Operations, the Digitalization Lead drives digitalization efforts at the process level, focusing on both process optimization and system development, including ERPs.

Reporting to the Head of Digitalization, the Digitalization Lead works closely with Business Process Owners (BPOs) to analyze business needs, design solutions, and implement processes that align with operational goals. This role is instrumental in fostering adoption of new tools, driving change, and ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.
 

For this position, a strong experience and expertise in Human Resource activities is key.

Main duties and responsibilities I

 

  • Business Needs Analysis and Process Design
  • Collaborates with business units and BPOs to assess current processes, identify improvements, and gather functional requirements.
  • Translates business needs into clear specifications for configuring unified information systems.
  • Partners with BPOs, the BPO Coordinator, and Digitalization Leads to document current processes, design future solutions, and ensure alignment with the digital transformation strategy.
     
  • End-to-End Process Optimization

  • Promotes digitalization to optimize processes, focusing on automation, redundancy reduction, and system integration.
  • Conducts impact analyses to ensure process changes are adaptable and feasible across functions.
  • Supports BPOs in implementing process standards and monitoring integration across business units.
  • Collaborates with the Technology and Information (T&I) team to propose solutions aligned with the digitalization roadmap.
     
  • Digital Transformation:

  • Collaborates with BPOs to design and refine cross-functional processes, focusing on automation, redundancy elimination, and alignment with best practices.
  • Develops end-to-end processes with métiers and BPOs for new systems.
  • Tests processes in sandbox or test environments.
  • Works with project, T&I teams, and consultants to ensure successful system delivery.

Main duties and responsibilities II

 

  • Change Management and User Support

  • Drives change within business functions, guiding teams through transitions to new systems and processes.
  • Assists in developing training materials and communication plans for smooth systems and digital tool adoption.
  • Gathers user feedback to refine solutions and enhance the adoption and usability of new systems.
     
  • Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

  • Tracks KPIs to assess process effectiveness and identify improvement areas.
  • Collaborates with BPO, Data Domain Manager, and Product Line Manager to report on process performance, adoption and user satisfaction.
  • Promotes continuous improvement by sharing insights and recommending optimizations based on feedback.

Education required

 

  • Education: Master’s degree in Business Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in business process management and modeling (e.g., BPMN, Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Certification in project management (PMP, Prince2 certification preferred) is a plus

Experience required

 

  • 12-15 years of professional experience, with 5-7 years in process management, ERP, or digital transformation (including 2-3 years with international organizations).
  • Experience in cross-functional environments and knowledge of standard end-to-end processes (e.g., hire to retire, procure to pay, record to report).
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems and digital solutions, with a proven track record in supporting digital transformations.
  • Experience in ERP development and deployment from a métier perspective.
  • Experience in low-tech countries and frugal innovation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the ICRC environment and field experience is an asset.

People management responsibilities

 

  • The Digitalization Lead influences business units and BPOs to define, adopt, and align end-to-end processes for digital transformation, while working with T&I teams on system definition, configuration, testing, and delivery.
  • May supervise external consultants and business analysts as the program progresses.

Relationships

 

  • Collaborates with BPO Coordinator, Digitalization Leads, T&I teams, and business units to ensure cross-functional alignment in end-to-end processes.
  • Gathers requirements, monitors adoption, and provides support throughout the transformation process.
  • Ensures consistency in methodology and practices with the BPO Coordinator and Digitalization Leads.
  • Supports change initiatives and monitors feedback and process performance in collaboration with the Change Management Lead and Data Domain Manager.
