Job Purpose:

Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Shelter and settlement officer, the Shelter and Infrastructure Assistant supervises site planning and care and maintenance activities in the IDP sites of Bentiu town.

 Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

  • •Carry out basic tasks within shelter/ NFI area (e.g. data collection)
  • •Carry out administrative tasks
  • •Follow given work plans and guidelines programming and operations
  • •Support efficient and effective program implementation
  • •Mobilization of beneficiary communities to maintain the established facilities in the IDP sites in collaboration with the Camp Management team.
  • •Conduct joint targeting, selection and registration of clients and independent or joint verification to ensure impartiality.
  • •Ensure the confidentiality and the support of IDPS by working with their families, community committee local government and community leaders in supervising how the assistance is used and any other issue that might arise from the project
  • •Engage community leaders, site maintenance committees and other community structure to ensure that they periodically carryout site maintenance.
  • •Ensure that tools meant for dyke are kept safe.
  • •Actively participate in community and partners coordination meeting and assessments.
  • •Ensure that the program resources are implemented in an open and accountable manner abd handed over or ended in away that promotes local capacities and sustainable operations.
  • •Implement appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems including client feedback handling mechanism; ensure consistent reporting, documentation and analysis of results to improve program efficiency and quality.
  • •Assist in sensitization of local government structures, communities and opinion leaders on the targeting criteria.
  • •Collect, register and report client’s feedback and complaints in weekly basis for client adaptable team and supervisor also give response based on the level of feedback.
  • •Ensure client adaptable mechanisms are in place at all project areas in collaboration with client’s adaptable team.
  • •Work closely with shelter and settlement team, CCCM, Protection and Economic recovery to ensure service are delivered to the most targeted beneficiaries

Experience and technical competencies:

  • Minimum 2 years of progressively responsible experience in Shelter and infrastructures construction in the humanitarian response
  • 2 years or more NGO work experience in similar position is desirable 
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Word & Excel.
  • Fluency in both verbal and written English languages mandatory.

Education:

  • Technical Diploma in Building and Construction
