Overall purpose of the role:  The purpose of CCCM assistant is to support the DRC CCCM team by representing and assisting the work of CCCM sector as per assigned field site either in Rubkona, Koch, Guit and surrounding areas as feasible, on a daily basis, ensuring DRC provides a positive link between humanitarian agencies and the local community, and supporting IDPs and the most vulnerable. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work independently to carry out service mapping and service monitoring to understand the status of services and report on the gaps for onward actions
  • Conduct meetings between community leaders and humanitarian agencies, alongside other DRC CCCM staff
  • Assist in the headcounts and other assessments using paper based and Kobo tools 
  • Ensure the CFM desks are up and running on regular basis and that the CFM desk operation schedule is shared among the IDP population
  • Refer and follow up any urgent cases to be dealt with by other humanitarian agencies
  • Provide weekly reports to CCCM Officers and CCCM Team Leader
  • Undertake daily service monitoring; running of the CFM desk
  • Keep track of daily returnee records on the CCCM Returnee Tracker
  • Assist on mobilization of community leaders and other stakeholders upon call for a meeting/training or any other CCCM related activity
  • Assist on preparation for trainings for community leaders, alongside other DRC CCCM staff
  • Work closely with local authorities on key issues such as IDPs, returnees, and other displacement issues
  • Participate in community mobilization and information dissemination, and campaigns in the IDP sites in order to raise community awareness on key topics
  • Write meeting minutes for meetings and keep other activity records
  • Train and supervise casual staff as needed
  • Other tasks as requested for by CCCM Officers and CCCM Team Leader

Experience and technical competencies:

  • At least 2 years’ experience working with an NGO / UN agency or working with the community
  • Experience working closely with others and building up strong working relationships
  • Experience in writing reports and/or meeting minutes
  • Experience in conducting trainings and meetings
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential data
  • Demonstrated experience in IT skills such as email and word and excel
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection using paper and / or Kobo
  • Ability to meet all deadlines, be proactive and extremely organised and reliable
