POSITION SUMMARY:
HIAS Kenya seeks to hire a facilitator to facilitate and train the HIAS team and Refugee-Led organizations on The Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB). The Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) program is a start-up and business management training program developed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) with a focus on starting and improving small businesses to create more and better employment.
OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The overall objective of the training is to capacitate trainers in using the SIYB business training program to become SIYB-certified trainers.
The specific objectives include:
- To facilitate the SIYB Training of Trainers (TOT) delivery for trainers from HIAS team and refugee-led organizations
- To ensure that trainees demonstrate the capacity to successfully deliver SIYB program to both new and existing entrepreneurs
- To ensure visibility of the activities by capturing professional photos and Videos including the results of the training.
METHODOLOGY AND SCOPE OF WORK
In close coordination with HIAS, the facilitator will implement the following tasks:
1.Design the training resources:
- Develop the training content for the SIYB program to be delivered through interactive activities, methodologies, and discussions
- Draft the training objectives, methodology, and training/workshop schedule and submit to HIAS for review and approval
- Finalize the methodology and training/workshop schedule as approved by HIAS
- A work plan on how the consultancy will be executed
2. Conduct a 12-day in-person training for the HIAS Economic Inclusion program team and refugee-led organization.
- Conduct the training based on the approved methodology and training/workshop schedule
- Evaluate the training
3. Submit a detailed report on the training
EXPECTED OUTPUTS AND DELIVERABLES
The following will be the expected deliverables and outputs of the engagement:
- Evaluation of the trainer's work, based on evaluation forms received from participants
- Conduct and facilitate entrepreneurship training successfully
- Improve trainers' delivery skills to enhance their capabilities in supporting entrepreneurs at the local level
- Participants have the capacity to prepare comprehensive business plans, costing multiple products
- A complete final report on the implementation of the tasks
- Soft copies of all presentations and training notes and training manual
- Develop tools for measuring training outcomes e.g., pre and post-test questions
TIMEFRAME
The facilitator should be able to undertake the tasks concurrently to fit within the planned HIAS work plan and timeframe, without compromising the quality of work expected.
This will be:
- Review existing information provided by HIAS and develop training content-2 days
- Review and incorporate feedback from HIAS
- Conduct a 12- day training
- Produce training report for first review and feedback - 2 days after training
- Produce final report day after HIAS sends back the first review
INSTITUTIONAL ARRANGEMENT AND RESPONSIBILITIES
HIAS will be responsible for the following:
- Overall coordination including mobilization of participants and venue
- Technical and operational support required throughout the training process
- Technical review of all training content, tools, and reports
The facilitator will be responsible for the following:
- Developing training resources, reviewing existing information, preparing training outlines and objectives
- Developing an appropriate methodology for the training specifically one that is participatory
- Conduct 12-day in-person training
- Developing training report
- Conduct training evaluation before and after the training
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Individual/company with demonstrable experience in the SIYB program
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the socio-economic status of refugees
- Experience in providing capacity building on SIYB with a valid license
- Prior experience in training humanitarian workers specifically those implementing economic inclusion programs
- Prior experience in developing participatory training resources
