Job Description

Applications are welcome from internal and external candidates. Responsibilities

  1. Undertake field support activities in an assigned area or areas, such as at an airport, transit center, third-party facility, camp-based operation or sub-office, or in relation to transportation. Support in the performance of airport services, including assisting with baggage, walking with groups of individuals within the airport, assisting with roll call, and collecting and distributing food and water and other supplies as directed.
  2. Provide contributions to regular progress report; mid-term and final project reports; regular updates and briefing notes, statistical tables, and other forms of documentation.
  3. The staff will be tasked, inter alia, with AVRR outreach and information sharing, carrying out regular interview sessions with migrants who are not in need of international protection and wish to return to their country of origin; undertaking logistical preparations for their return and reintegration in their countries of origin; carrying out regular reintegration assistance for migrants; and assisting beneficiaries in writing business plans, upon need.
  4. Work in close coordination with the coordinator of migrant protection and assistance and support, inter alia, outreach, information sharing, guidance for migrants residing in the TTC who do not need international protection and wish to return voluntarily to their country of origin.
  5. Moreover, the staff will deliver regular information sessions for migrants and refugees in the TTC on, inter alia, the risks of irregular migration and inform them where to seek assistance if needed, and prevention of human trafficking, including indicators of trafficking in human beings (THB) and types of THB.
  6. Maintain and ensure the confidentiality and integrity of all relevant paperwork in line with standards of conduct and data protection rules.  Alert the Project Assistant or management of any non-compliance to SOPs or codes of conduct by IOM staff members or partners.
  7. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education

  • Completed high School degree from an accredited academic institution, with 4 years of relevant professional experience; or
  • University degree in Political or Social Science, Law, International Relations, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least 2 year of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience
  • Experience in protection mechanisms/referral pathways for addressing individual needs of vulnerable groups
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations, as well as AVRR stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of the migration issues in the country is an advantage.
