Job Description

Context
The recent displacement of Afghan migrants to Albania has presented new challenges and opportunities for national and local authorities to support their integration into Albanian society. To support integration process of afghani migrants, IOM Albania is implementing the “Support for the Voluntary Integration of Afghan Nationals in Albania” project with the following outcomes:
- Afghan migrants have access to basic services and have capacities to successfully integrate into local Albanian communities and,
- Enhanced capacity of Government and civil society to successfully support legal admission and integration of Afghans in country.
Under the overall supervision of Head of Office (HoO) and the direct supervision of the Resource Management Officer (RMO) the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Responsibilities
- Extract and input data from various sources in financial and accounting systems;
- Assist in reviewing all types of payments, verifying that they are duly authorized, and all the supporting documents are attached therewith;
- Perform transactions in PRISM as per role assigned;
- Ensure proper systematic and completion of all posted documents as per established standards;
- Assist in the preparation of updates of expenditures vs. budget, on monthly basis, for different mission’s projects;
- Identify expenditure that was recorded incorrectly and requires correction and follow up with RMA;
- Respond to accounting, budget or financial queries regarding data from staff in the unit;
- Verify vendor requests for accuracy and in conformance with IOM Financial policies and instructions;
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
Education
- High School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or,
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finances, or related fields with three years of relevant professional experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook; previous experience in ORACLE is a distinct advantage;
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Skills
- Sound knowledge of accounting systems, desirably ORACLE, generally accepted accounting principles, and internal controls, is an advantage.
- Computer literacy including proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Discreet, details and clients-oriented, patient and willingness to learn new things;
- Attention to detail, ability to organize paperwork in a methodical way;
Languages
Fluency in English and Albanian (oral and written) is required.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
