Assistant Reporting Officer

Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
General guidance and support are received from the External Relations Officer. Guidance may also be given by the various specialised units in the office.

Within UNHCR: Close contacts with sections to gather and analyse information.

With EXTERNAL Parties: implementing partners and UN agencies to gather analyse and disseminate information about UNHCR activity information.

Impact of Work: Accurate and well-presented information will promote UNHCR action for refugees, contribute to good decision making, and help for fund raising.
Errors can lead to inappropriate action, and impact negatively on UNHCR's image and affect funding raising efforts.


All UNHCR staff members are accountable to perform their duties as reflected in their job description. They do so within their delegated authorities, in line with the regulatory framework of UNHCR which includes the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, UNHCR Policies and Administrative Instructions as well as relevant accountability frameworks. In addition, staff members are required to discharge their responsibilities in a manner consistent with the core, functional, cross-functional and managerial competencies and UNHCR's core values of professionalism, integrity and respect for diversity.


Duties
- Keep abreast with developments in the area of responsibility to prepare appropriate briefings and reports.
- Assist in collecting and drafting the required information for the production and dissemination of regular updates for internal and/or external distribution.
- Assist in organising donor briefings and the coordination of inter-agency meetings.
- Assist in maintaining working relationships with the Government, NGOs, and UN agencies.
- Draft and disseminate minutes of the meetings that are held periodically in the duty station.
- Accompany visitors and colleagues on monitoring missions to refugee sites giving appropriate briefing, commentaries and prepare briefing material for visitors.
- Draft updates, donor reports, background notes, briefing notes, press reports, etc.
- Produce reports on UNHCR activities.
- Liaise with external partners on behalf of UNHCR.

- Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities impacting objectives in the area of responsibility. Ensure decision making in risk based in the functional area of work. Raise risks, issues and concerns to a supervisor or to relevant functional colleague(s).
- Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

For P1/NOA - 1 year relevant experience with Undergraduate degree; or no experience with Graduate degree; or no experience with Doctorate degree

Desired Candidate Profile

The candidate should possess strong drafting and communication skills to monitor developments, prepare briefings, and draft high-quality updates, reports, and meeting minutes.
He/she should have experience in content gathering/creation, including interviews, web stories, photography, and videography, to showcase UNHCR’s impact.
Experience in engaging with local media, maintaining relationships with partners, and supporting donor visibility initiatives is essential.
The candidate should demonstrate cultural sensitivity, fluency in English and Arabic, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic humanitarian setting.
Experience in organizing and coordinating events, such as Would Refugee Day, donor briefings and inter-agency meetings, is highly desirable.
