Job Overview
Under the direction of the Finance Officer, the Finance Volunteer is responsible for assisting the finance team in the day-to-day accounting operations in accordance with IRC’s policies and procedures, and in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Assist Finance in day-to-day bookkeeping and data processing.
•Assist in scanning of documents and ensure they properly and safely filed on box.
•Prepare cash transaction vouchers (cover sheets).
•Updating and arranging the physical finance vouchers in line with the Integra references.
•Assist in the verification of expenditures submitted by the Program staff for adjustment against their advances.
•Assist with making mobile money transactions using YO system, running name verification reports and share payment confirmation.
•Assist with Vendor Settlement transactions in the Integra system.
•Manage the Online Invoice tracker and update the payments tracker for transactions submitted in Finance.
•Draft and complete the With Holding Tax schedules.
•Maintain and enforce compliance of policies and procedures, including confidentiality.
•Perform other duties as requested by any finance staff.
Minimum Qualifications:•A Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce.
•Minimum of 1 year working in the finance function.
•Experience working with NGOs (preferred but not a prerequisite).
•Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
•Knack for detail. Able to communicate effectively.
•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Strong Computer skills (MS Word, Excel,).
•Must be able to function comfortably in a loosely structured but complex work environment, working and prioritizing multiple tasks.
•Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) in English with programme staff.
•Good supervisory skills, time management and interpersonal skills.
