We began operations in Beijing in 2016 and have since grown to 110 approved members worldwide. We are capitalized at USD100 billion and AAA-rated by the major international credit rating agencies. Collaborating with partners, AIIB meets clients' needs by unlocking new capital and investing in infrastructure that is green, technology-enabled and promotes regional connectivity.
AIIB's Portfolio Management Department (PMD) is responsible for monitoring AIIB’s rapidly growing investment portfolio, which includes loans and equity investments with or without sovereign guarantees, and assisting management and project teams to ensure portfolio quality. PMD’s main functions include: (1) monitoring the entire Investment Operations portfolio and provides portfolio reports and data analytics; (2) managing the non-sovereign-backed financing (NSBF) assets that have been transferred to PMD; (3) coordinating the design and implementation of IT systems for Investment Operations (IO); and (4) providing Secretariat services to the Investment Committee.
To strengthen its portfolio management functions, PMD is recruiting a Senior Portfolio Officer (Senior PO) who reports directly to the Director General of PMD (DG, PMD). The main responsibility of the Senior PO is to support the DG in building up and leading a Middle Office support team that efficiently provides administrative, technical, and para-legal support to client-facing Portfolio Management Officers (PMOs) and simultaneously provides outstanding service delivery to the Banks’ clients.
For the successful candidate, the position provides a unique opportunity to assume a leading role in building and operating Middle Office functions with a team of highly motivated Middle Office professionals, in collaboration with project/portfolio management teams.

- Establish, maintain, and innovate Middle Office operating and reporting systems and processes, technical guidance, operational procedures, etc. to enable the Middle Office to effectively and efficiently support Portfolio/Project Management teams.
- Supervise, coach, and motivate a team of Middle-Office professionals (including outsourced assistants) who work closely with the Bank’s internal and external clients to ensure conformity with compliance requirements to support proper financial management and audit.
- Liaise with other Bank departments that are involved with the Bank’s NSBF portfolio in the legal, credit, treasury, or controller area.
- Coordinate the documentation of lessons learned and operational insights and the feedback to investment operations teams to continuously improve the Bank’s operations and systems.
- Effectively manage the relationship with internal and external project stakeholders, such as borrowers, sponsors, co-lenders, counsel, advisers, and agents.
- Identify and summarize lessons learned from the existing portfolio and feed knowledge back to investment operation teams and portfolio management teams to continuously improve the Bank’s operations and systems.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by the DG.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in portfolio supervision of private infrastructure projects at international commercial banks or multilateral agencies.
- Profound understanding of the role of the Middle Office in portfolio management and the ways it provides value-add to internal and external clients.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully resolving complex project and operational issues under time pressure.
- Proficiency in managing financial models and running sensitivities; experience in building and auditing financial models would be a plus.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills in English with a demonstrated ability to synthesize complex issues in concise, effective communication.
- Ability to inspire and motivate others and to create effective teams that operate across departmental boundaries.
- Prior experience in deal origination, project structuring, and negotiation is an asset but not a prerequisite.
