The Information Management Unit of AIIB plays a crucial role in capturing, managing and safeguarding AIIB's information assets. The Unit is tasked with several critical functions including library research services, data privacy, records and information management, and archives. This library research internship aims at providing a unique opportunity to an individual interested in pursuing a career in library research and reference work, alongside working with experienced professionals.
Responsibilities:
The internship is ideal for a current graduate student in information management, library and data science, or related fields. The incumbent intern will contribute to the development of the Library and Research Center (LRC)’s research and information reference guide to curate knowledge and share information and organize subject and/ or topic specific information resources. The main objective of this LRC guide is to help staff locate high-quality information and use it in their work or projects. This initiative is expected to increase the usage of AIIB library's resources and content and help the clients make the best use of them. Here are the expected deliverables of this internship project:
- Interview and survey on the need of information research, reference and resources of AIIB’s Business Units including Project Operations, Secretariat, Treasury, Communications, HR and other patron departments and staff
- Collect requirements and summarize the collected information to understand the information and research resources needs of AIIB patrons
- Conduct research on available information sources, both open and acquired, to prepare an inventory of resources according to the interests of the clients
- Organize knowledge products and contents to create subject and topical guides. Prepare subject and topical guides as appropriate and develop an A-Z content list including databases and subscriptions
- Create and revise LRC intranet, blogs and other related key documents.
- Support LRC training sessions to create awareness about these resource and platforms.
- Perform other related duties as appropriate under the conditions of the internship.
Requirements:
- Recently completed or enrolled in a master’s or higher degree program in a relevant field including but not limited to library, archives, information management, public administration, finance, economics or another relevant field
- Proficiency in using standard software programs including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint and other common office applications
- Excellent communication skills and team player and
- Fluent in oral and written English.
