The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is Financing Infrastructure for Tomorrow in Asia and beyond—infrastructure with sustainability at its core. We began operations in Beijing in 2016 and have since grown to 110 approved members worldwide. We are capitalized at USD100 billion and AAA-rated by the major international credit rating agencies. Collaborating with partners, AIIB meets clients’ needs by unlocking new capital and investing in infrastructure that is green, technology-enabled and promotes regional connectivity.
AIIB’s Office of the Treasurer (TRE) is exploring means of better identifying counterparties and tracking them through its systems. Sourcing market data identifiers, corporate/organizational structures, and other data related to counterparties can be a challenge, but the need to do so is great as having this data is a requirement for risk management as well as allows better portfolio management in terms of risk/return profiles and other metrics. This project will involve both an external-facing component of working with counterparties, external managers, data vendors, and others involved with supplying counterparty data and/or systems as well as an internal-facing component of data analysis on the TRE counterparty dataset and how it can be better maintained. At its completion, this project will have a lasting positive impact on AIIB’s treasury operations.
Responsibilities:
- Review AIIB’s and TRE’s current process for counterparty onboarding and counterparty data management to suggest improvements.
- Analyze TRE counterparty data for inconsistencies and work to merge this dataset into others at AIIB.
- Review market data and market data solutions for sourcing counterparty data and analyze strengths and weaknesses of the most viable. The goal will be to build an understanding of what the market can provide, what the market cannot provide, and how those affect current data and systems in use in TRE.
- Propose measures for addressing areas where market data is not reliable and TRE must self-define the data.
- Present the completed project details in a slide deck / project document.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Masters/MBA or PhD program, preferably specialized in finance, organizational structure/behavior, or related disciplines.
- Experience with treasury departments at multilateral development banks and/or large-scale financial institutions is a plus.
- Working knowledge of treasury products, processes required to trade those products, and related market data is a plus.
- Knowledge of KYC requirements, counterparty onboarding procedures, and other means of managing counterparties at financial institutions is a plus.
- Passion for international development/area of interests.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Great team player.
- Fluent in oral and written English.
