The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is Financing Infrastructure for Tomorrow in Asia and beyond—infrastructure with sustainability at its core. The Corporate Strategy Team in Strategy, Policy and Budget is responsible for advising the Board of Directors and the President on AIIB’s Corporate Strategy and its implementation. In carrying out its role, the Corporate Strategy team undertakes scanning of the external environment, detailed analysis of infrastructure markets in Asia and globally, benchmarking and comparative analysis with other MDBs and IFIs, and comprehensive analysis of AIIB’s portfolio, pipeline, resources and clients. The team also leads the development of the Bank’s annual business planning and provides updates to the Board and Management on its progress. The team monitors movements in the Bank’s Corporate Scorecard, a concise set of indicators and targets.
Responsibilities:
The intern will be tasked with conducting benchmarking with other MDBs and IFIs which will feed into the team’s advice on refreshing and implementing AIIB’s Corporate Strategy. The key deliverables will be set dependent on the intern’s specific skill set, but may include:
- Data mining of infrastructure financing datasets to generate insights and conclusions for AIIB’s business development with respect to market segments, sectors, clients and technologies
- Benchmarking of AIIB’s portfolio against that of other key comparator MDBs/IFIs
- Assessment of specific indicators used by other MDBs and their potential application to AIIB (e.g., those on implementation readiness or capital mobilization)
- Benchmarking of staffing resources and key functions
Requirements:
- Enrolled in full-time study towards a Master's degree or equivalent from an internationally recognized institution majoring in Economics, Finance, Data Science, International Development or related field
- Adept at working with large datasets and strong attention to detail
- Curious to uncover new findings and apply them to strategy development and implementation
- Adaptable, proactive and a strong team player with passion for international development
- Excellent communication skills; fluent in verbal and written English
