The Budget Team in Strategy, Policy and Budget performs Strategy, Policy and Budget’s corporate coordination and oversight roles in managing AIIB’s administrative and capital budgets. The team’s primary objective is to support Management in strategically planning and managing budgetary resources effectively and efficiently, ensuring alignment with AIIB’s Corporate Strategy and business priorities and judicious use of resources. As part of its commitment to cost efficiency, the Budget Team conducts periodic expenditure reviews across various areas to identify opportunities for optimization and improved resource allocation.
Responsibilities:
The intern will be tasked with conducting an expenditure review on a selected budget area (to be decided). The key deliverables include:
- Data Analysis of Internal Historical Data
Collect and analyse internal historical expenditure related to the selected budget item.
Identify trends, patterns, and key cost drivers to provide insights into spending behaviour.
- Benchmarking and Market Research
Perform external benchmarking or market research to compare AIIB’s expenditure with industry standards and peers, where applicable.
- Reporting and Recommendations
Develop a concise report summarizing findings from the internal data analysis and external benchmarking.
Propose actionable recommendations to improve cost efficiency and optimize resource allocation for the selected budget item.
Requirements:
- Enrolled in a full-time study towards a Master's (including MBA) degree or equivalent from an internationally recognized institution majoring in financial accounting, Management Information Systems, or business administration.
- Solid understanding of financial accounting; CPA, CIMA or CFA preferred.
- Comfortable with working on large datasets and strong attention to details.
- Adaptable, proactive and a strong team player with passion for international development.
- Excellent communication skills; fluent in verbal and written English.
