  • Closing Date:

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is Financing Infrastructure for Tomorrow in Asia and beyond—infrastructure with sustainability at its core. We began operations in Beijing in 2016 and have since grown to 110 approved members worldwide. We are capitalized at USD100 billion and AAA-rated by the major international credit rating agencies. Collaborating with partners, AIIB meets clients’ needs by unlocking new capital and investing in infrastructure that is green, technology-enabled and promotes regional connectivity.

AIIB’s Office of the Treasurer (TRE) is exploring the possibilities of incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) AI into portfolio management (PM). The review is envisioned to include conducting a trial run on AI software from the process of setting up that software with the necessary limits and other parameters, through the operation of the portfolio over some months, and then the evaluation of how that AI-assisted portfolio did compared to one or more that are not AI-assisted. In addition to an intern, this project is expected to have some external consulting assistance.

Responsibilities:

  • Build an introduction to AI used for portfolio management. The project will be in-flight when the intern joins, but the intern will be expected to add to the business case/rationale for the project including possibly a scan of the market to select one or through knowledge sharing of software familiar to the intern.
  • Advice on the incorporation of AI into portfolio management. One primary question will be to what degree the AI is active or passive in terms of decision-making. Other topics to be defined during the project but can include strategic and tactical matters.
  • Evaluation of performance. At the end of the project, an assessment is to be made on how well the AI-assisted portfolio performed against a range of metrics to be collaboratively defined by TRE, the intern, and the consulting firm.
  • Present the completed project details in a slide deck / project document.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Masters/MBA or PhD program, preferably specialized in quantitative finance, artificial intelligence, computation models, or related disciplines.
  • Some relevant experience or exposure to financial software and AI development is a plus.
  • Experience with treasury departments at multilateral development banks and/or large-scale financial institutions is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of treasury products and processes required to trade those products is a plus.
  • Passion for international development/area of interests.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Great team player.
  • Fluent in oral and written English.

AIIB is committed to diversity, transparency and inclusion. We believe our strength comes from having a team with the right diverse skills, experiences and abilities selected through a merit-based competitive process.
