What we are looking for:
The Livelihood and Food Security (LFS) Project Manager is responsible for the implementation of LFS
projects and activities in South Darfur, in line with NRC’s strategy and standards. The position
encompasses team management, project cycle management, capacity building, partnership
management, ensuring integrated programming and coordination with key stakeholders.
The position reports to the Area Manager, with technical guidance from the LFS Specialist, and is
responsible for the overall management of the South Darfur area office LFS team.
What you will do:
Some of your specific responsibilities include:
- Provide project staff facilitation on duties, workplans and roles and responsibilities.
- Coordinate with Area Office and Country Office management to ensure the implementation of the LFS development and emergency response plans.
- Provide clear and structured guidance to the LFS team to implement the LFS department plans and strategy.
- Work closely with other actors working in LFS and Cash , such as Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), UN Agencies, and government authorities working in the sector of LFS to ensure integrated approach in project planning and implementation.
- Holds the responsibility on providing proper and contextualized LFS department curriculums, ensuring they are tailored to the context
- Ensure the use of existing monitoring and evaluation processes with the LFS team and collaborate with the Country Office to develop or streamline new Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) tools to support a responsive and effective programming approach.
- Contribute, and lead when necessary, to all the department reports, both internal and external.
- Promote increased inclusion and accessibility within all LFS activities both internally and externally.
- Ensure quality control of LFS activities through the development and rollout of output and outcome level monitoring and evaluation tools, guidelines and procedures.
- Participation of Budget Variance Analysis (BVA) and Project Cycle Management (PCM) meeting to provide updates on work, spending and procurement plans.
- Ensure appropriate Financial and Logistical NRC systems/ procedures are adhered to within the LFS team (including supply chain management).
- Overall budget management and holds the responsibility for all the LFS projects implemented in the Area and ensure appropriate burn-rates are maintained and that solutions to over/under expenditure are applied.
- Drawing up plans, proposals, and budgets for new projects/extensions of projects in conjunction with the relevant team, both programme and support staff.
- Ensure the completion of planned activities in a given time frame.
- Ensure coordination and communication with all the LFS team members.
- Support and facilitate staff capacity building.
- Lead on the HR procedures for LFS projects at different levels, including project staff, structure staff, as well as lead on recruitments and performance monitoring of staff.

What you will bring:
- Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context, especially in the LFS ans cash sector
- Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
- Technical LFS expertise
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
What we offer:
- Duty station: Nyala, Sudan.
- Contract: 12 months
- Travel: Frequent in Darfur/Sudan
- Salary/benefits: grade 8 on NRC’s international salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions
