The Scope
We are looking for an engaged Policy Alignment Manager who brings solid expertise and a passion for FSC’s mission, to work with us in a multinational environment. Your role will be to manage assessment processes on sustainable requirements globally and to develop and manage related projects for normative framework within Performance and Policies Unit teams. The position offers the opportunity to support the further development of a new area of work for FSC of high importance for its offering and credibility.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
  • To manage the processes for analyzing initiatives regulating sustainable forest management and supply chains globally as well as other areas relevant to FSC normative framework.
  • To manage projects to align and develop solutions for FSC normative requirements originating from regulatory initiatives, such as the EUDR alignment project.
  • To plan and manage benchmarking of FSC normative framework with selected regulations and requirement frameworks.
  • To perform communication and outreach related activities, such as supporting events, webinars, meetings, and other engagement efforts with both external and internal audiences.
  • To manage coordination of user support for normative solutions for regulatory alignment from PSU in collaboration with other FSC teams.  
  • To collaborate closely with all relevant units within FSC International, to ensure internal collaboration and alignment in analyzing and developing solutions related to regulatory developments.
  • To support with department work planning and budgeting processes
  • To manage applicable administrative tasks, e.g., developing contracts and agreements with service providers.
  • To participate in FSC internal competence and accreditation programs.
  • Any other task as assigned by formal supervisor and project work as assigned according to special organizational needs.
Your profile
Education and Training: 
  • University degree or equivalent training or experience in a relevant field, for example for example Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Business Administration

 Working Experience, Style and Skills: 
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: project management, certification, quality management systems, legal compliance.
  • Experience with and up-to-date understanding of at least EUDR is required, other regulatory initiatives and sustainability frameworks such as UN Guidelines on Business and Human Rights and OECD Due Diligence Guidance are considered a plus and familiarization with them will be required over a defined period of time upon joining.
  • Project management experience: proven successful track record of managing cross-functional collaborative projects.
  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, global team.
  • Proven ability to structure complex material and present it in a clear and simple manner.
  • Outspoken time management skills: ability to perform well while handling simultaneously a number of functions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with peers and external stakeholders.
  • Service and solution-oriented attitude to work and professional relationships.
  • A very strong sense for diligence and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to facilitate interactive discussions.
  • Administration skills.

 Language & Communication Skills:
  • Fluency in English, spoken and written.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Exemplary verbal and written conduct and communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong, assertive, at the same time friendly and professional attitude
 
Digital Skills – good skills in the use of/experience with:
  • Excellent skills in the use of/experience with Standard software packages (MS Office 365).
  • Good skills in the use of Tableau, Power BI or similar software for data analysis and visualization.

  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, global team.

The Fine Print
  • Location: Bonn, Germany
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week
  • Duration of Employment: Temporary contract until 31 December 2026
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible
  • Travel: Sporadic travel is required
