ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT:
To ensure proper evidence generation for WFP’s Country Strategic Plan (CSP), the Country Office in Mozambique has invested in bolstering its assessments and reporting capacity. This involved, amongst others, creation of a Research, Assessments and Monitoring Unit (RAM), encompassing the work of Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping ( VAM) and Monitoring and Evaluation ( M&E) teams, strengthening internal capacity to collect and process price data and market related information and to support key departments in the government of Mozambique to contribute to this evidence generation.
Under the supervision of the VAM Officer Deputy Team Lead at the CO, the incumbent will act as main focal point for price monitoring and market related assessments.
JOB PURPOSE:
To contribute to the VAM evidence base that supports CBT, food security and nutrition policies and programs (e.g. needs assessment and situation analyses, market assessments, targeting, cost-effectiveness, and operational efficiency) .
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Cash Based Transfers (CBT) team in conducting market functionality assessments in several provinces of Mozambique.
Lead data collection, data analysis and reporting for market assessments and price monitoring
Train staff at the Country Office and in field offices on markets assessments, price monitoring and other VAM activities.
Collaborate with the Government of Mozambique and WFP colleagues for updating Minimum Expenditure Baskets and transfer values in priority provinces.
Lead production of quarterly price monitoring bulletins and make sure price data for key commodities are frequently updated to inform WFP programs
Ensure data related to prices and market assessments are properly stored in the RAM Team folder, DataLib, DataBridge and RAM HUM.
Support standardization of food security, nutrition, prices and market data and sharing within WFP and with partners.
Liaise with key agencies in the government of Mozambique for capacity strengthening activities and to ensure required data is available for WFP use.
Support targeting activities as required.
Support administrative and financial tasks required to conduct VAM related activities.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:
Has at least 6 years of experience in data analysis, market assessments, price monitoring, statistics or other relevant VAM activities
Has research experience using a variety of analytical tools.
Has experience using WFP Data Bridge and DataLIb.
Has experience building and maintaining relations with external stakeholder, such as local NGOs, Government authorities and other implementation partners.
Has experience in building capacity of field staff.
Has proven ability to adapt to changing programme requirements and operational challenges, maintaining high standards of monitoring and evaluation.
Has ability to work in multifunctional teams and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds .
Has proven knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, Power Point).
Has proven knowledge of data processing tools, such as SPSS, STATA, R, or others
Has experience working with data collection software (ODK, KoBo).
Has good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Has ability to communicate ideas clearly, both orally and in writing .
STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area.
Experience: At least six (6) years of relevant work experience in the related area.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in Portuguese and English. Knowledge of local languages is desirable
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Duration: 12 months (renewable)
