French speaking Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies Officer to Chad
Introduction
The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) recruits committed and skilled experts for our humanitarian, resilience and peace support operations worldwide on a daily basis. We have great experience on working together and strengthening other organisations for example the UN and the EU in crisis, conflicts or other disasters.
MSB is currently looking to recruit a French speaking Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) Officer for a deployment with UNICEF to Farchana, Chad. Durations for the mission is initially 6 months with possibility for extension, with start as soon as possible.
Chad is currently facing a significant refugee crisis, with nearly 700,000 individuals crossing into eastern Chad in just 10 months, resulting in overcrowded camps that house up to 40,000 refugees. This influx has created immense pressure on resources, leading to severe shortages of essential needs such as clean water, food, and sanitation. These shortages heighten the likelihood of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), as individuals may be forced into exploitative situations to fulfill their basic needs. Half of the refugee population consists of children, many of whom are unaccompanied or separated from their families, making them particularly vulnerable to abuse and exploitation, including GBV. With women and girls facing increased risk of sexual assault both during their journey to Chad and within the camps, it is essential to recruit a dedicated GBViE officer. This GBViE Officer will strengthen the response to the crisis, improve coordination, and build the capacity of local partners to better address GBV risks, ultimately enhancing the overall support for refugees and host communities in Chad.
Employed by the MSB on an international mission you will receive a monthly salary 61 910 SEK as well as a comprehensive allowances and benefits package, ranging from free home leave travel to access to psychosocial support.
