Job Description

Responsibilities

In collaboration with the International Experts and the other Local Expert:

  • Develop a tailored training curriculum on diaspora engagement, focusing on alignment with the relevant policy framework.
  • Facilitate two two-day training sessions for up to twenty-five municipal and central government participants.
  • Employ diverse teaching methods to encourage active learning, such as brainstorming, lectures, interactive discussions, and small group work, to encourage active learning.
  • Develop pre- and post-training evaluation tools to assess knowledge acquisition and measure the effectiveness of the training sessions.
  • Post-training evaluation forms. 

Tangible and measurable outputs of the work assignment:

  • A completed training curriculum on diaspora engagement initiatives.
  • Delivery of two two-day capacity-building training sessions with interactive methods.
  • Pre- and post-training questionnaires (target 70% knowledge increase).
  • A summary report analyzing pre- and post-training evaluations and outlining recommendations for future diaspora engagement initiatives.
  • Evaluation forms. 

Performance indicators for the evaluation of results:

  • Quality and comprehensiveness of the training curriculum developed.
  • Positive feedback from training participants based on evaluations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge improvement among participants as indicated by pre- and post-training assessments (at least 70%).

Qualifications

Education
  • University degree, preferably in social sciences (e.g. sociology, political science, development studies) or law. 
  • An advanced university degree will be considered an advantage. 
Experience
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of diaspora issues to promote policy and legislative good practice on diaspora engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing training curricula.
  • Demonstrated experience as a training facilitator.
  • Experience and understanding of migration issues.
  • Experience in preparing written reports accurately and concisely and with public presentation skills.
  • Proven capacity to coordinate all administrative and technical aspects of the consultancy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective relationships.
Skills
  • Problem-solving, collaboration, time management, analytic reasoning, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills. 
Languages
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Macedonian for specific purposes. 

Timeframe of the Consultancy

  • Two months (10 working days).

Notes
  1. Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment.
  2. IOM covers Consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accidents or illnesses and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
  3. IOM has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct that is incompatible with the aims and objectives of the United Nations and IOM, including sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment, abuse of authority and discrimination based on gender, nationality, age, race, sexual orientation, religious or ethnic background or disabilities.
  4. IOM does not charge a fee at any stage of its recruitment process (application, interview, processing, training or other fee). IOM does not request any information related to bank accounts.
