Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the National Program Officer (NPO), and the direct supervision of the Senior Project Associates/ Project Coordinators, the Project Assistant will support the implementation of different project activities under the Pillar for Social Cohesion and Resilience implemented in Sarajevo Canton and the identification of new community engagement and social cohesion opportunities.
- Support the overall implementation and monitoring of project activities.
- Support administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate payment requests, obtain necessary approvals and clearances, and follow-up on administrative actions, etc
- Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- Monitor activity level budget; verify availability of funds; obtain necessary approval and update budget related information.
- Be responsible for day-to-day project correspondence, support information sharing and filing and take appropriate follow-up actions. Assist in project files update.
- Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in implementation and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
- Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation in both English and local languages, including translation, when required.
- Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions, as required by the project.
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High-school diploma with 4 years of relevant working experience; or Completed university degree from an accredited academic institution preferably in the field of social science, political studies focused on community engagement with 2 years of relevant working experience
- Prior experience with monitoring project activities focusing on provision of social services to migrants and referral mechanisms within the social protection sector.
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
- Experience in working with local communities on social cohesion is an advantage.
- Proven experience on preparation of written reports in an accurate and concise manner
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Able to prioritize work, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Good oral and written communication skills in both English and local languages.
- Knowledge of financial and procurement rules and procedures.
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Windows and MS Office applications (especially Excel).
- Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility, responsibility, integrity, teamwork, self-motivated.
- Able to work with little supervision, focused, well organized, detail oriented.
- Valid driving license
- Willingness and ability to conduct travel whenever needed
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written) and in one of the three official languages spoken in BiH.
