Functional Responsibilities
UNDP is seeking the support of a Technical Analyst to support the goals of Global Programme on Nature for Development. It supports developing, middle income, and small island nations in their commitments to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), including early action on the post-2020 global biodiversity framework (GBF), National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), National Reporting. Working in collaboration with UN Environment (UNEP), the CBD Secretariat, and the GEF Secretariat, this position provides technical support to GEF-eligible Parties to CBD. Depending on the policy cycle, the type of technical support delivered to Parties may vary.
Responsibilities include supporting the Senior Project Manager and team to:

Assist in developing technical guidelines, resources, and educational tools on biodiversity and policy frameworks that are easily understandable and actionable.

Assist in the creation of analytical reports and strategic policy recommendations in alignment with the objectives of the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.

Schedule and assist in regular meetings with project stakeholders to discuss progress, challenges, and upcoming tasks.

Maintain ongoing communication with key stakeholders, ensuring they are updated on project developments and milestones.

Assist in development and implementation of mitigation strategies to address identified risks and minimize their impact.

Ensure that the project team has access to the necessary tools and support to complete tasks efficiently.

Assist in development of detailed project plans, outlining objectives, activities, timelines, and responsible parties.

Ensure that project plans align with the overall project goals and are achievable within the set timeframe.

Help design and produce educational content, such as webinars and online courses, by identifying critical topics, scheduling sessions, and selecting suitable presenters with expertise in biodiversity and policy frameworks.

Coordinate digital educational programs, including webinars, technical briefings, peer-learning exchanges, MOOCs, and self-paced learning initiatives, focusing on maximizing participant engagement and learning outcomes.

Create communication materials such as press releases, briefing notes, presentation decks, social media posts, blog articles, and multimedia content related to training programs, emphasizing key project achievements and milestones.

Collect and assess data from participating countries to assist the team in preparing comprehensive progress reports, donor updates, training materials, and presentations.

Facilitate the organization and delivery of capacity-building programs, ensuring the availability of high-quality resources and tools for participants.

Assist in development of communication strategies to enhance visibility, engagement, and the impact of the project, aligning messaging with key stakeholders' priorities.
The contractor will be supervised by the Project Manager, and contractor and supervisor will determine progress and the next step in mutual communication.
Education/Experience/Language requirements

Advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) with no relevant experience is desirable; OR

First-level university degree (undergraduate, bachelor, or equivalent),preferably in anthropology, sociology, management of development, international relations, political science, environmental management/sciences, conservation biology/ecology geography, natural resource management, or any related field, with two (2) years of relevant experience, will be considered an asset; OR

Secondary school diploma (or high school equivalent) and six (6) years of relevant experience are required.
Work Experience

Relevant experience is defined as work or academic experience preferably any of the following topics at a conceptual or practical level : international environmental policy, natural resource management, biodiversity/climate change, human/civil/indigenous/women’s rights, social entrepreneurship/impact investing, local economic development, and/or civil society engagement and education.

Fluency in English is required.

Fluency in a second official UN language is desired
