Job Overview:

Under the supervision of the Protection and Women's Empowerment Program Manager, the Prevention Specialist of the Protection and Women's Empowerment Program will play an important role in achieving the program objectives by implementing targeted activities aimed at preventing gender-based violence (GBV) and empowering women. In particular, the incumbent will be responsible for implementing activities aimed at raising awareness of GBV, providing psychosocial support to women and girls, organizing the work of the Safe Space for Women and Girls in Dnipro, and engaging clients and communities in program activities. The position requires active engagement with communities, local leaders and organizations to raise awareness of GBV and strengthen protection systems.

Main responsibilities

1.Involvement of communities in GBV prevention activities:

- Develop and implement an outreach strategy at the regional level to effectively reach clients and communities with program activities. Identify and engage new groups of beneficiaries, including vulnerable populations.

- Development of key messages, session materials for women and girls of different age groups, presentation materials and key references adapted to the specifics of different communities. Organize and conduct information sessions for communities on GBV prevention.

- Development and dissemination of information and communication materials that include information on services available to survivors and ways to access them.

- Support community mobilization initiatives aimed at creating a safe environment for women and girls.

- Developing plans and implementing campaign activities aimed at raising awareness about GBV and promoting support for survivors, including for the 16 Days of Activism against GBV.

- Conducting needs assessments of women and girls, developing distribution plans, coordinating the distribution of dignity kits to clients.

- Participation in the adaptation of global IRC guidelines and tools to the local context in the field of GBV prevention.

- Ensure that program activities are conducted in accordance with best practices and contextual relevance, in line with the Minimum Standards on GBV and humanitarian principles, including Safe Places for Women and Girls (WGSS), distribution of dignity kits, recreational and psychosocial support activities, and empowerment sessions.

2.Support the work of the Safe Space for Women and Girls in Dnipro (WGSS):

- Assessment of clients' needs to develop appropriate content for activities. Involvement of facilitators in drawing up individual work plans and reporting.

- Developing the content of the schedule and activities, including measures to prevent GBV, psychosocial support, recreational activities and life skills development.

- Responsibility for the implementation of components for adolescent girls, their involvement and implementation of the Girls Shine program.

- Ensuring a safe, supportive environment for all participants.

3.Administration and reporting:

- Timely preparation and submission of weekly and monthly work plans.

- Maintain detailed records of activities, including statistics and qualitative data.

- Prepare regular reports on progress, achievements and challenges in the work.

- Prepare monthly reports, including information on public engagement activities, public consultations, and progress made.

- Filling in the appropriate tools for the activities.

- Collecting and analyzing client feedback to improve prevention activities and ensure they meet community needs.

- Monitoring and documenting program activities on GBV prevention and risk reduction.

4.Coordination and representation:

- Representing IRC's interests at the local level, participating in meetings with local authorities and other stakeholders, and maintaining a network of partnerships.

- Promote effective coordination with other humanitarian organizations to improve protection systems.

5.Responsibilities of the Head of Unit:

- Ensure an effective process of recruitment and coordination of community mobilizers to achieve program objectives.

- Organizing and conducting training sessions and workshops for staff focused on improving professional skills in the field of preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV).

- Ensure ongoing professional development of staff through mentoring, supervision and sharing of best practices.

- Creating favorable conditions for the formation of a cohesive team focused on achieving common goals in the field of protection of women's and girls' rights.

- Implementation of self-help systems and stress management mechanisms to ensure the resilience of employees in difficult working conditions.

Key working relationships:

The position reports to: Women's Protection and Empowerment Program Manager.

Internal cooperation in IRC: CP, PRoL, ERD, Health

External collaboration: GBV partners, local NGOs, authorities

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CANDIDATE

Requirements for the position of the National Specialist of the Program for Protection and Empowerment of Women on Educational Activities:

- Diploma in law, social sciences, or related field.

- At least 3 years of work experience related to gender-based violence (GBV) or protection initiatives.

- Demonstrated experience in GBV prevention and response, education, community engagement and advocacy.

- Ability to contribute to planning, results-based management and data-driven reporting in the context of GBV programs.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as strong analytical and writing skills.

- Ability to multitask, handle pressure effectively, adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility.

- Fluency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian will be an advantage.

Place of work: Dnipro, with business trips to Dnipropetrovska, Zaporizka, and Donetska oblasts.
