The designer will work under Design Lead, liaisng closely with programmatic teams, as well as scrum master, product owners and development teams, across multiple applications, including Plume Viewer internal analysis tool, the OGMP web reporting application, and the Eye on Methane data platform suite of tools. Responsibilities include designing and refining front-end features, creating prototypes, wireframes, and user journeys as needed. They will also develop documentation and design system guides for developers and internal teams while supporting the development team in product refinement.

UNEP’s mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. The International Methane Observatory (IMEO), within the UNEP Climate Change Division, exists to provide open, reliable, and actionable data to the individuals with the agency to reduce methane emissions. Understanding user-centered design principles and methodologies. Regular use of design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite). Experience with data visualisation and interactive mapping is a plus. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Objectives: -Support design efforts for IMEO Eye on Methane data platform suite of tools, across tiers, so IMEO is successfully able to complete the 2025 milestones on time, and with high design rigor. – 50% -Plume viewer design updates that help evolve the tool to a more sophisticated version, complete with new features, functionalities and views. 20% -OGMP web reporting app new features or refinement ready for reporting season in a timely manner that also ladders back to the overall IMEO Eye on Methane look and feel. 20% -Infographics to support communication and/or digital platforms and drive consisitent messaging across all IMEO Digital channels and platforms 10%.
