Job Description

Context
Under the overall supervision of the Director, Coordination Office for the Mediterranean, Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta, Representative to the Holy See and the direct supervision of the Project and Development Officer (Head of Programme and Policy Support Unit), the incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Programme & Policy Support Unit in implementing activities of a national and interregional scope.
Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting talking points and presentations for senior IOM staff, including drafting of briefs, fact sheets and other materials, on areas of work relevant to IOM COMED;
- Assist with clerical tasks related to programme development activities, cooperation, and dialogue on migration-related issues by supporting the organization of meetings, workshops, seminars, events, and conferences;
- Provide support the supervisor’s participation in internal and external workshops and meetings as required, including preparing notes for files and presentations, and assisting in drafting informational materials when necessary;
- Assist in drafting and revising briefings, information materials, papers and reports and other research-related activities for IOM COMED publications, internal and external distribution;
- Facilitate cross-unit coordination of administrative processes to assist the supervisor in identifying cross-cutting issues and promoting coherent planning, including activities related to the IOM Country Strategy;
- Maintain updated records for the activities on Programme and Policy Support;
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma with three years of professional experience in migration, development issues, research;
Or
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Relations, Economics, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with one year of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Experience in conducting research and drafting reports;
- Experience in the organization of events, conferences, training workshops for governments, international organizations, NGOs or the private sector;
- Experience in drafting presentations, talking points and briefs;
- Professional experience with IOM would be an advantage.
Skills
- Good understanding of IOM’s programming and priorities in Italy and the Euro-Mediterranean region;
- Good understanding of the migration issues at the national and regional level;
- Knowledge of the United Nations and other international migration-related processes.
Languages
- Fluency in English and Italian is required (oral and written);
- Knowledge of French would be considered an asset.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
