Your mission
The position serves the purpose of driving Berghof Foundation’s fundraising strategy by strengthening and diversifying our funding sources. You will build new and maintain existing partnerships, thereby generating institutional and project funding for the Berghof Foundation. As Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager (all genders) you will have a focus on governmental partners and private foundations and will be responsible for coordinating and supporting fundraising activities across the organisation. By doing so, you will provide leadership, oversight and guidance to the organisation and while the Head of Strategic Partnerships, Innovation and Impact is on parental leave, work closely with the Executive Team and line manage the Strategic Partnership staff in Berlin and Brussels.

Your main tasks:
- You shape and implement Berghof’s fundraising strategy, aiming at growth, core funding and further donor diversification
- You provide strategic direction, leadership and drive to all fundraising activities across the organization
- You oversee and lead Berghof Foundation's fundraising activities and strategic outreach to governmental donors and private foundations
- You monitor relevant policy developments and funding mechanisms, build strong relationships with donors and create new opportunities for collaboration
- You advise on calls for proposals as well as emerging trends and opportunities in the donor landscape
- You coordinate, draft and edit partnership and funding applications in cooperation with respective thematic or regional leads
- You provide briefings for the Executive Director, take care of detailed preparations and follow-up with key contacts
- You provide leadership on an interim basis taking part in meetings of the Executive Team and to an existing Strategic Partnerships Team
Your knowledge, experience & skills
- You hold a Master’s degree in International Relations, European Studies, other political, economic or social science disciplines, or other relevant fields
- You have 7+ years of relevant professional experience in relationship building and fundraising, as well as team leadership experience
- You have experience in writing proposals for both governments and private foundations
- Prior knowledge of relevant donors and existing network preferable
- You have excellent communication, coordination and project management skills
- You are fluent in written and spoken English, good German skills and other language skills are an asset
- You have a strong ability to work with perseverance as part of a team as well as independently
- You are curious and have strong empathetic/intercultural skills
- You are able to work under time pressure
- You are willing to travel within Europe
