About this position

We are looking for a strategic and forward-thinking Communications Division Lead Coordinator – Communications Lead Specialist to provide strategic and operational support to the Communications Division Chief in developing and executing the organization’s overall communications strategy. This role will be instrumental in coordinating communications content, managing events, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the communications department.

 

You will work in the Communications Division, which is part of the External Affairs and Communications Department. This department is responsible for managing internal and external communications, expanding and maintaining the Bank’s brand, providing protocol services, and overseeing external outreach efforts to stakeholders, including civil society organizations and governmental entities.

 

The Communications Division offers advisory services, expertise, and tools for dissemination, communications planning, and positioning with internal and external audiences. Additionally, it provides guidelines and advisory support on corporate brand standards and manages digital platforms, editorial content, and media relations.

What you’ll do

Content creation coordination:
-Work alongside all communicators in DCC (including the Executive Communications Team) and the extended team (including Senior Coordinators and Communicators in the region and throughout the bank, IDB Invest, and IDB Lab).
-Oversee the development and implementation of content strategies across various channels (website, social media, email, publications, etc.) in alignment with organizational objectives.
-Supervise the creation and editing of high-quality written and visual content, ensuring brand consistency and adherence to style guidelines.
-Manage the content calendar to ensure timely and consistent content delivery across all platforms.
-Collaborate with internal stakeholders (subject matter experts, marketing, etc.) to gather content and ensure accuracy.
-Monitor and analyze content performance across various channels, identifying areas for improvement.
-Provide strategic counsel on press and communication matters to IDB senior management, specialists, and stakeholders.
-Collaborate with all teams within the Division (e.g., digital, brand, press, internal communications, executive, etc.) to ensure consistent messaging and integrated communication efforts.
-Assist the Division Chief and internal teams in developing and implementing crisis communication plans and responding to urgent situations.

 

Events Management:
-Work alongside the Event management team lead, acting as a liaison between event management and the communicators team.
-Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of various events, including conferences, workshops, webinars, and press events.
-Support event management in resolving high-level issues related to all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection, budget management, speaker coordination, registration, and on-site support.
-Collaborate with the event management team and the digital team to ensure the effective development and implementation of event marketing and communication plans, including pre-event promotion, on-site media relations, and post-event reporting.
-Track and measure event success metrics (attendance, engagement, media coverage, etc.).

What you'll be working on

Daily Operations Management: 
-Under the guidance of the Division Chief and in collaboration with the EXC front office and the division administrative team:
-Monitor and prioritize daily tasks and projects within the division, ensuring a smooth workflow and adherence to deadlines.
-Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Communications Division, including budget management, vendor relationships, and team coordination.
-Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among team members, ensuring alignment on priorities and key initiatives.
-Assist the Communications Division Chief in developing and implementing the overall work program for the area, providing input and support on key decisions.
-Oversee the planning and execution of major communication projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget compliance, and adherence to highest standards.
-Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership, media, and community partners.

 

Team Leadership & Development:
-Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to junior staff members, fostering their professional growth and development. 
-Delegate tasks appropriately, empowering team members to take ownership of their work. 
-Create a collaborative and supportive team environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and professional growth.

 

Continuous improvement:
-Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflows and increase efficiency within the division.
-Stay informed about the latest trends and technologies in communications, including social media, digital marketing, and content creation.
-Evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of communications efforts.

What you'll need

Education: Master’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. 
Experience: At least six years of progressive experience in media relations, press coordination, or a related role, with a preference for formal PR training or background. Experience in leading teams and managing talent, budgets, and internal processes in a multinational environment is highly desirable. 
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

-Proficiency in content management systems (CMS), social media platforms, and graphic design software.
-Proven experience leading teams and coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring, and providing feedback on the work of others ( both with formal and informal reporting lines). 
-Demonstrated ability to mentor employees and foster effective working relationships. 
-Experience in event planning and execution.
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and identify trends.

-Experience in media relations and crisis communication.
-Experience in digital marketing and social media advertising.
-Knowledge of SEO/SEM best practices.

Requirements

Type of contract and duration

Staff: International: International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
