Functional Responsibilities

The Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives will play a crucial role in driving forward STBP’s mission to end TB by 2030. They will own and be accountable for leading, managing, and coordinating high-priority initiatives, projects, and / or activities that advance the organization’s mandate and achieve its 2025-28 Operational Strategy. The Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives will report directly to the Head of the EASI team and work closely with the Executive Director’s Office (EDO) and other relevant STBP teams / initiatives.

Strategy planning and implementation

  • Lead and manage the development, updates, and implementation of current and new strategic initiatives, roadmaps, and workplans.

  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of current and new strategic initiatives.

  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of current and new strategic initiatives and provide regular updates to EDO and other relevant STBP teams / initiatives. 

Country projects planning and management

  • Lead and manage the development, updates, and implementation of current and new country projects related to current and new strategic initiatives.

  • Lead and manage the country projects and their operational and programmatic activities, including but not limited to the development of their Grant Support Agreements, monitoring their reporting programmatic and financial reporting requirements, holding regular update calls / meetings, and supporting the overall efficient and effective implementation of current and new country projects. 

Donor / funder engagement, business development, private sector partnerships, and resource mobilization

  • Lead and manage the relationship building and strengthening with current and new strategic initiatives donors / funders and private sector partners.

  • Identify and pursue new strategic initiatives donors / funders and private sector partners.

  • Lead and develop the relevant communication materials (i.e., pitch decks, concept notes, etc.) to identify and pursue new strategic initiatives donors / funders and private sector partners.

  • Lead and manage the current and new strategic Initiatives proposal / grant making processes, donor reporting requirements, etc.

High-level stakeholder / partner engagement

  • Lead and manage the engagement with high-level country partners, including Ministries of Finance, Ministries of Health, National TB Programmes, etc. 

  • Lead and manage the engagement with high-level global-level partners.

  • Lead and manage the engagement with high-level private sector partners, including STBP Board’s Private Sector Constituency and Innovation Constituency. 

Marketing and communications

  • Lead and manage the coordination of various activities to raise awareness and understanding for current and new Strategic Initiatives, including organizing in-person / virtual events and meetings, developing news alerts, developing social media posts, etc.

  • Represent STBP and the EASI team and present current and new strategic initiatives at in-person  / virtual events and meetings.  

Knowledge management and reporting

  • Lead and manage the development of a database of current and new strategic initiatives and their performance metrics.

  • Lead and manage the collection and documentation of the outcomes of current and new strategic initiatives.

  • Lead and manage the creation of knowledge management products to share tools and best practices of current and new strategic initiatives.

  • Lead and manage the development of comprehensive reports, which captures their impact and lessons learned, of current and new strategic initiatives. 

Team management

  • Supervise and manage their Strategic Initiatives portfolio of work and its personnel, including but not limited to:

    • Work with the applicable STBP teams to ensure all programmatic and operational activities are efficiently and effectively executed and

    • Lead and manage recruitment processes related to their portfolio of work.  

  • Serve as the Officer-in-Charge in the absence of the Head of the EASI team and represent the EASI team on applicable internal and external calls, events, and meetings, including but not limited to Executive Team meetings. 

  • Support the Head of the EASI team in the overall supervision and management of the EASI team.

In addition to the above-mentioned roles and responsibilities, the Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives may be required to provide support for any other duties assigned by the Head of the EASI team.

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s) degree in business administration, economics, computer science, engineering, global / public health, medicine, political science, or a similar subject with seven (7) years of relevant professional experience is required or University degree (Bachelor’s) degree with nine (9) years of relevant professional experience is required.

Professional Experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience working in banking / finance (financial market instruments, venture capital, digital currencies), consulting, health insurance, digital and AI-based solutions or transformation, innovation (process, service delivery, and / or  products), innovation roll-out (introduction, scale-up, and transition), or related experience is required.

  • Prior experience with strategy development, human- and people-centered design implementation, product launch plan development, etc. is highly desirable

  • Prior experience working with Ministries of Finance or Ministries of Health, National TB Programmes, private or public sector care providers, local implementing / non-governmental organizations (NGOs), small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups, private sector companies, etc. is highly desirable

  • Prior experience working in TB affected countries or emerging / growth economies is highly desirable.

Language Requirements
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Fluency of another UN official language is highly desirable.
