The Economics Department is responsible for providing thought leadership within AIIB and ensuring economic sustainability of projects financed by AIIB. The department is organized around five pillars: (a) macroeconomics and finance (b) project economics and finance (c) research and development impact (d) crosscutting issues, including climate (e) ecosystem development to build collaborations and networks.

The Economics Department is looking for a Business Management Analyst to support the operations of the Department in partnering with relevant support functions across the Bank to deliver streamlined and efficient processes, including aligning business goals and track results, as well as strategic business development operations. This position reports directly to the Chief Economist and supports all business agendas inside and outside the Bank.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily support to the Economics Department in delivering business plan objectives, supporting regular operations and its integrated business plan and budget, keeping track of required actions and respective deadlines and their proper reporting.
  • Assist in enhancing the efficiency of interactions and communication within Economics Department.
  • Act as ECON’s liaison point to proactively partner with various departments in the Bank.
  • Serve as ECON’s business management focal point for programs related to ECON process development, IT, facilities management, event management, and other systems/processes related to ECON’s setup and operations.
  • Assist in preparing ECON’s business plan, budget and staffing plan. Consolidate, coordinate, and prepare respective reports and their presentations.
  • Act as the focal point of ECON for the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. Assist in the preparation of relevant reports and presentations.
  • Provide analysis and advise on new department projects and functions.
  • Support the Chief Economist in close cooperation with HR to ensure that HR-related policies and initiatives are properly implemented effectively and consistently in ECON, including recruitment, performance management, etc. Be the training focal point for Finance to work with HR to ensure proper training and development plans are implemented for ECON staff.
  • Coordinate the work of team building and internal seminar events.
  • Assist in the Chief Economist’s engagements with external counterparts, including governments, academics, enterprises, media, NGOs, conference hosts, etc.
  • Assist the Ecosystem pillar on G20 engagement initiatives. 

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years experience in international finance institutions, including direct and relevant business management experience.
  • Work experience in multilateral development banks, or financial institutions is an advantage
  • Solid understanding of investment processes and operations as well as familiarity with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities required to build working relationships across teams; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate in a clear and succinct style.
  • Fluency in English is a must.
  • Self-starting, self-driven and proactive individual with initiative.
  • Demonstrated experience, judgment, and leadership to execute multiple and diverse work programs.
  • Ability to adapt and be multi-tasking based on business needs to bridge resource/skills gaps and keep several business initiatives moving forward.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent preferably in business administration, economics, or public administration.
