Job Description
IOM Introduction :Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Responsibilities
Learning Objectives:
Working under the overall direction of the Chief of Mission, the intern will assist with the operational activities of the Mission. Tasks will include:
· Provide assistance to Chinese returnees on implementation of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) project;
·Maintain communication with returnees and provide counseling via phone and email;
·Coordinate between sending missions and returnees to deliver assistance;
·Facilitate operational and administrative aspects of the project including case management, document collection and review, and payment making in coordination with the finance unit;
·Conduct case monitoring as requested by sending missions and prepare monitoring reports;
·Assist with translation and proof reading of AVRR materials from other missions on an ad hoc basis;
·Track updated AVRR guidance from IOM HQs and other related requirements to assist return planning; and
·Undertake all other tasks as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants to IOM internships must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements:
a) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
b) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) or (b) above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.

- Depending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by his/her university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.
- IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the assignment. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
