Offene Arme e.V. is a registered organization based in Germany, with an additional registration in Greece since 2018. Prior to this, we operated under the name Chios Eastern Shore Response Team (CESRT). Offene Arme is the only remaining NGO on Chios that consistently provides Non-Food Items, including essential items such as clothing, shoes, and hygiene products, to asylum seekers and refugees through our Free Shop and distributions outside the Closed Controlled Access Centre (CCAC) camp. The team does not manage any projects within the camp.
We are currently seeking a dedicated individual to support our Distribution and Warehouse Coordinators.
Responsibilities:
- Warehouse Operations: Sorting donations, restocking inventory, and ensuring warehouse organization.
- Free Shop Operations: Managing the Free Shop, which includes check-in/check-out processes, assisting on the shop floor, restocking, and other related duties.
- Distribution Activities: Supporting and managing distributions, including tasks such as check-in/check-out, assisting beneficiaries, restocking, and more.
- Coordinator Support: Assisting and substituting for the Distribution and Warehouse Coordinators during breaks or absences, provided that the necessary handovers and inductions have been completed.
- Coordination Meetings: Actively participating in weekly coordination meetings and contributing to team discussions.
- Task Flexibility: Taking on specific responsibilities based on skills, experience, and the evolving needs of the organization.
- Vehicle Operation: Driving Offene Arme vehicles in accordance with organizational policies.
Qualifications:
- Due to the dynamic nature of our operations and the rapid evolution of the situation on the ground, the supporter must be adaptable to changing tasks and workflows.
- Proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel is required.
- Strong command of the English language is essential.
Conditions:
- The role includes free accommodation (shared room/apartment).
- Supporters are expected to commit to a minimum of 3 months. The first 2 weeks will be an introductory period, during which supporters must arrange their own accommodation.
- This position is open to female applicants only, due to the shared accommodation arrangements. To ensure comfort and privacy, the accommodation is gender-specific as there is currently a female team member working in this section.
