About this position

 

The IDB INVEST, a member of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group, is a multilateral organization based in Washington, D.C., that is committed to the development of Latin America and the Caribbean through the private sector.

IDB Invest is looking for a proficient data governance consultant with experience in data management and data literacy.

Our Team: Data Management and Analytics is the team under AKI Division that is responsible to define and implement the data strategy for IDB Invest.   
 

What you’ll do

 

•    Evolve and improve our data governance framework through changes to behaviors and implementation of best practices, standards, and processes.


•    Promote data stewardship by engaging with data stewards and data owners to run our data governance framework, fostering accountability, collaboration and ownership on IDB Invest’s data assets.


•    Manage our data quality issue log through monitoring, reporting and regular coordination with multidisciplinary teams.


•    Evolve and enhance our data literacy program by improving training curriculum and delivering targeted training sessions and workshops, empowering stakeholders to effectively leverage data and adopt Collibra, fostering a strong culture of data-driven decision-making.


•    Develop guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for managing business glossary, metadata, data lineage, and reference data while leveraging our data governance platform (Collibra).

 

•    Design and implement comprehensive strategies to promote and increase adoption of our data governance tool, Collibra, across the organization to enhance operational efficiency and data quality.


•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address data governance needs, promoting workflows leveraging Collibra as a way to automate and streamline processes.
 

What you'll need

 

•    Education:  A bachelor’s degree with a major in data management, data science, data analytics, computer science, software engineering, information systems, business administration or related quantitative field; master’s degree preferred.

•    Experience: 

 

  • Between 2 and 5 years of progressive experience in experience in data governance, data analytics and data literacy.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment, driving engagement and commitment to data governance initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with data stewardship, data quality issue management, and impact analysis on changes to upstream systems.
  • Ability to develop and implement procedures that are best practices for data governance in financial institutions.
  • Proficiency in using our data governance tools: Collibra (experience on other solutions is a plus).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with data stewards, data owners, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to design and deliver training programs to enhance data literacy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

 

Functional expertise: [i] You are able to work in a high-pressure environment while juggling multiple tasks, and effectively prioritize tasks, [ii] you are able to understand and translate clients’ (business units) needs into solutions, providing services that meet clients’ expectations for quality and performance; [iii] you listen actively, obtain necessary input, share ideas, speak persuasively, and convey information in a clear, objective, and concise manner.

 

•    Languages: You are proficient in written and verbal communication in English and in a second official language of the IDB Group (Spanish, Portuguese or French). 
 

Requirements

•    Citizenship: No requirements

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration


    -   International consultant Full-Time, 19 months (up to 36 months).
