Background:
Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 1996 to promote women’s participation in conflict prevention, management, and resolution in Africa. FAS empowers African women to take active roles in decision-making processes at all levels, advocating for gender equality across the continent.
The Gender is My Agenda Campaign (GIMAC) Network is a platform comprising over 55 civil society organizations dedicated to advancing gender equality and women's rights. Established during the transformation of the OAU, GIMAC network has advocated for women's participation in the African Union (AU) decision-making process and monitors AU member states' commitments to gender equality, including the implementation of the Solemn Declaration on Gender Equality in Africa (SDGEA).
In line with its mission, FAS, as the GIMAC Network host and coordinator, and UN Women seek a consultant to support coordination efforts and broader advocacy activities.
Job Summary
The consultant will primarily be responsible for the coordination and management of activities and events as per overall GIMAC agenda. This role will also involve coordinating advocacy efforts and maintaining effective communication between the GIMAC Network, key stakeholders, and participants, with a focus on integrating young women's voices in AU processes.
Description of Responsibilities/ Scope of Work
Deliverables:
The consultant is expected to deliver the following:
1. Work Plan: A detailed approved work plan outlining the specific tasks to be performed, along with timelines and key milestones.
2. Mid-Term Progress Report: A mid-term progress report submitted at the midpoint of the consultancy, detailing completed activities and supporting documents.
3. Final Report: A comprehensive final report summarizing all completed activities against the original work plan, and all the supporting documents.
Reporting
The Consultant will report to the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist at the UN Women Liaison Office to the AU and UNECA. The report and supporting documents submitted by the consultant will be revised by Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) who is the host and Coordinator of the GIMAC Network.

Functional Competencies:

Education and Certification:
• Master’s degree in social sciences, gender studies, development studies, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in gender equality, youth advocacy, or network coordination.
• Previous experience with UN Women, GIMAC or other CSOs networks working with the AU is considered an advantage
• Demonstrated experience in organizing and facilitating training, workshops, and conferences.
• Strong knowledge of gender issues and youth empowerment in the African context.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
Languages:
• Fluency in English and French (both written and spoken)
