In addition to its more traditional business, IFC supports these companies through its Disruptive Technologies Group, which invests directly in early and late-stage venture companies as well as in venture capital funds.
IFC is seeking an Associate Investment Officer, Fintech Venture Capital to support the team working on direct Fintech investments across Africa to execute equity transactions and support portfolio management. In addition, the person will support senior members of team in their business development efforts across Africa, including through the preparation of external presentations to enhance IFC’s strategic positioning in the fintech sector in Africa. Additional responsibilities will be to support the team to prepare internal presentations and briefs for various stakeholders.
In this role, the person is expected to work closely with the global venture capital team and the Africa financial institutions team. S/he will be based in Johannesburg and will report to the Fintech Lead for Africa (CSFDT).
Roles and Responsibilities
• Conduct industry and market research/mapping to identify a pipeline of direct investments in fintech.
• Support the execution of direct, co-investment and follow-on financing opportunities in the fintech sector in Africa.
• Analyze financial statements and prepare financial models.
• Support the team in all aspects of IFC’s deal approval process, including due diligence and preparation of investment-related documents for internal and external audiences.
• Support supervision of portfolio companies including preparation of portfolio reports and related compliance related information.
• Coordinate closely with IFC's internal departments to ensure maintenance of the highest corporate governance, environmental and social, and integrity standards.
