The Global Energy (CEMEN) unit, in collaboration with the regional industry groups, is responsible for IFC's energy business, including power generation, transmission and distribution, and innovative energy technologies such as battery storage and green hydrogen. CEMEN is looking to recruit a Chief/Principal Investment Officer (CIO/PIO) to lead on CEMEN’s priorities related to sector strategy and expertise, knowledge creation and sharing, innovation, deal structuring guidance, and global client relationship and business development. 

Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 3-year term appointment.  

Duties and Accountabilities  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
•  Lead specialized power sub-sectors (e.g., Wind, Hydro, etc.) as Cluster Lead. 
•  Drive strategic initiatives based on sector trends and IFC priorities (e.g., Mission 300, a WBG effort to connect 300 million Africans to electricity by 2030). Such a role requires expertise in power sector investments and ability to guide cross-functional teams toward strategic objectives.
•  Be one of the focal investment specialists supporting senior management and investment teams globally in business development, project structuring and execution as well as the approval process.
•  Lead strategic development and implementation of IFC's value proposition across specialized power sub-sectors, defining competitive advantages and market opportunities.
•  Be the client relationship manager for select global energy clients to manage and develop client relationships. 
•  Lead knowledge management initiatives to share best practices across regional infrastructure teams, focusing on business development, market creation, innovation, and risk management strategies.
•  Collaborate with senior management, other WBG units, and external stakeholders (e.g., philanthropists and concessional financiers, technical specialists, energy organizations etc.) on energy sector strategies and implementation plans. 
•  Actively monitor industry and market trends, participate in industry events and build sector relationships globally.
•  Lead World Bank Group and IFC participation in events related to the energy (conferences, annual meetings, etc.)
•  Mentor and coach staff and help build talent and grow skill base of staff.
