Background:

Towards these goals, UN Women implements programmes and projects that aim to advance gender equality, improve women’s access to opportunities, rights, and services in political, social, and economic life and combat gender stereotypes, discrimination and violence, as required by international and national legal and policy commitments. UN Women collaborates with numerous partners – central and local level government authorities, civil society organizations, including women’s organizations and platforms, academia, private sector companies, and other UN agencies. It commits itself to the Leaving No One Behind principle, by supporting targeted actions to remove the obstacles that marginalized and vulnerable groups of women face in accessing their rights and to promote them as agents of change.

Since the UN Women Türkiye Office works with numerous partners and is a growing office with expanding activities throughout the country, its scope and administrative workload are increasing, with further growth expected in the coming period. Under the overall guidance of Programme Specialist, Women Lead the Consultant is expected to support the operations and programmes by performing a variety of standard technical processes ensuring high quality and accuracy of work and providing support to planning and implementing UN Women interventions.

Description of Responsibilities /Scope of Work

1. Provide operational, logistical and technical support to the implementation of programmes

  • Support provision of technical inputs to the planning, design and formulation of programme/ project proposals and initiatives related to activities 
  • Provide administrative support to day-to-day implementation of activities;
  • Provide inputs to the annual workplan and budget as required;
  • Support the operational and logistical arrangements for the events, workshops and trainings. 

2 . Provide technical inputs to the monitoring and reporting of the programme

  • Support monitoring progress on programme activity, results and indicators;
  • Support preparation of quarterly reports, donor reports and other reports on outputs, results outputs and outcomes.

3. Provide technical inputs to the management of finances of Women Lead Portfolio

  • Support monitoring the budget implementation and programme activity expenditures and perform budget revisions when required;
  • Provide inputs to financial reports;

4. Provide inputs to advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts

  • Support preparation of background documents, briefs, knowledge products, and presentations related to women’s participation in politics and decision making.
  • Support the organization of advocacy activities and campaigns;

Consultant’s Workplace and Official Travel

This is a full-time office-based consultancy due to the day-to-day support required for the activities under the Women Lead portfolio. 

No travel requirements are envisioned under this assignment. In case of an unforeseeable travel, the travel arrangements will be handled by UN Women as per the UN Women rules and regulations.

Functional Competencies:

  • Ability to administer administrative processes and transactions;
  • Ability to perform work of confidential nature and handle a large volume of work;

Required Qualifications:

Education and Certification:

  • Advanced (Masters) degree in social and political sciences, human rights, gender equality etc.
  • A first-level university degree in social sciences, social services, law etc. in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. 

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of progressively responsible experience in administrative or logistic support service is required with advanced (Master`s) degree, or in absence of a Master’s degree minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in administration or logistic support service is required with a first level university degree. 
  • Experience in the field of gender equality and women’s empowerment is required
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and ERP systems is required.
  • Previous experience in UN organizations is an asset

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Turkish is required.
